An diese Tag fuhren zusätzliche Sonderzüge von Frankfurt nach Sterbfritz und zurück weil das Event Kinzigtal-Total (Vorfahrt für das Fahrrad) stattfand.
Hier verkehren täglich ca. 150 Güterzüge und ca.16 Regionalbahnen.
Fernverkehr gibt es planmäßig keinen mehr. Der Bahnhof Sterbfritz ist der höchstgelegenste Bahnhof an der Nord-Süd-Strecke.
(Steigung von beiden Seiten von bis zu 12,5 Promille)
Die benachbarten Betriebsstellen sind Elm im Norden und Jossa im Süden.
Desweiteren befinden sich 5 Tunnel zwischen Elm und Jossa. (Ebertsbergtunnel, Brandensteintunnel, Ramholztunnel, Sterbfritztunnel und der Ziegenbergtunnnel)
Desweiteren ist ein Sterbfritz der letzte höhengleiche Überweg zu Gleis 2/3 der noch mit einer Kette zwischen Gleis 1/2 gesichert wird. Alle anderen Bahnhöfe besitzen modernere Sicherungs- / Zugangstechniken zu den Bahnsteigen.
Das Stellwerk ist Bauart Siemens DrS2 und im Jahre 1957 gebaut.
Der Bahnhof steht leer und zum Verkauf.
Der ehemalige Güterbahnhof wird planmäßig nicht mehr benutzt, hin und wieder wird bei Bauarbeiten ein SKL, TVT usw... darin abgestellt.
Am Ende gibts noch ein bisschen Bonusmaterial aus Schlüchtern, dass ich jeweils beim Umsteigen in Richtung Sterbfritz aufgenommen habe.
