Here we look at the events surrounding the buy-out of Electromotive Deisel in London, Ontario by Caterpillar Inc with the Lockout, the Day of Action and the March to the plant afterwards, as well as some good info on the Labour Movement in Canada, the decimation of manufacturing jobs in SW Ontario over the past few years and other parts of Canada and who's to blame..
Or who's not to blame at least..All I know is from what I've researched it wasn't the workers fault as some would have you believe..
They did what they had to do and God Bless 'Em
Run time around 70 minutes
Started out making this on a whim when I heard about the lockout and then when fm96 broadcast on the radio they were going to burn a Caterpillar hat I thought I could get some good shots with my Playbook..maybe make something to help garner support for the workers.
As it turned out its more of an epitaph now as we all know the result.. Caterpillar packs up and leaves..as a result of the public outcry here in London?
Maybe..
As a result of a new 'Right to Work' law past in the state of Indiana the day before they closed the plant here in London? And after Caterpillar throwing $30 million at the state for 'worker retraining'
Were they just testing the waters up here in Canada?
Maybe..you be the judge
