This wonderful musical presents the Christmas story through the eyes of a boy named Leon. When he realizes that his name spelled backward is Noel, he is suddenly and deeply moved to tell the whole world the true meaning of Christmas. But, when he tries out for virtually every role in an annual Christmas pageant, he is the only one who does not get a part. At the last moment, and by a fortuitous turn of events, he manages to get a bit part as an understudy for the innkeeper whose role was to turn Mary and Joseph away. He comes to understand better than anyone how they must have felt when they heard the words "no room" that night in Bethlehem. Without really trying, and through a heartfelt desire to set things straight, he surprises the entire cast of the pageant and ultimately reveals the true meaning of Christmas.
The First Leon, available on DVD, is a remarkable and inspiring musical performance by the students of Saguaro Hills SDA Christian School. It will leave you teary-eyed and overjoyed with the true meaning of Christmas.
