Editing photos is really a fun to do, and this fun becomes double when you have a right tool that knows you perfectly.
Your Mac comes with iPhoto, which is adequate for organizing and sharing photos and even doing some editing: red eye reduction, cropping and straightening, even color adjustments.
Flying Meat developed Acorn as an easier-to-use alternative to some of the more expensive and complex apps out there (like Adobe's Photoshop). For the more sophisticated user, Acorn also sports advanced support for Automator, AppleScript and JavaScript to help support really complicated automated workflows.
The GNU Image Manipulation Program — GIMP for short — has long been lauded by open source advocates as the open source alternative to Photoshop. GIMP's functionality is similar to what you can do with Photoshop, though its interface may throw you. If you're a photographer who works with photo metadata extensively, that's where Lightroom shines. PhotoLine sports a pretty heavy set of features: 16-bits-per-channel processing, ICC profile color management, IPTC and EXIF data handling, extensive image processing features, filters, correction tools, batch conversion support, and much more. PhotoLine is positioned as a less expensive alternative to Photoshop, but it's clearly aimed at the same users - people who already have a lot of image editing and manipulation experience. A demo version is available for download from the PhotoLine web site, so feel free to check it out and judge for yourself.
Certainly Photoshop isn't for everyone — it's an incredibly daunting tool that can be very confusing if you don't know what you're doing.
Adobe offers Photoshop CC as a subscription-based application for as little as $9.99 per month. If the idea of subscribing to software fills you with dread, and if your needs are more modest than full-blown Photoshop, you should consider Adobe's consumer-friendly Photoshop Elements application. Photoshop Elements makes it much easier to do things like move objects in photos, enhance color, correct not just red eye shots but also those weird glowing eyes you see in your pet photos, fixing, straightening and creating panoramic images; keeping track of photo data and organizing photos too. Adobe makes both Photoshop Elements and Photoshop Elements Editor, the latter which is available for purchase from the Mac App Store. Pixelmator supports a large variety of image formats, sports tons of filters, has vector tools and excellent color correction tools.
Its most recent update (as of this writing) reworked its image editing engine to be faster. If you'd like to kick Pixelmator's tires before buying it, you can download a free trial from its web site before ponying up at the Mac App Store.
If you're curious why I didn't include Apple's Aperture on here, it's because Apple announced in June plans to move away from both Aperture and iPhoto in favor of a new app called Photos.
Mac machines are well known for their use amongst the creative people since quite a few years. There are quite a few amazing applications available on the Mac App Store which allow you to edit images and photos. It is easy to use and offers layer-based editing with support for layer masks and layer styles. Recently updated to its new version, Acorn is simply a great image editing tool available on Mac.

It is really easy to use and anyone who has the knowledge of basic image editing software will start using Acorn 4 in a jiffy. CameraBag 2 is a beautiful and easy-to-use app which makes advanced photo editing quite easy for almost any kind of user.
This is yet another powerful tool which lets you create stunning new images and edit your existing photos. Download PhotoPad Free Photo Editing Software for Mac from Files32: Graphic Apps : Editors - Get your beta freeware and shareware downloads!
Coda is the swiss army knife of CSS editing apps, it combines code editing features with FTP, SVN, Terminal and a browser preview to produce a do-it-all app. If you find yourself working with large quantities of files, BBEdit might be the application for you.
HyperEdit is a super lightweight coding application that combines the edit pane with a Safari powered preview window which allows for fast and easy page building. I work regularly in both platforms (well, mostly in the PC world), so not having to change apps is a boon for me. My verdict would be for PC switchers try out espresso or coda both very similar, both code CSS & HTML really well. I'm a long-time PC programmer and I have fallen in love with my Apple computer and I want to make the switch to programming on the Mac. Sometimes I prefer it over Notepad++ in windows as it uses soft and smooth fonts similar to the mac and linux os'. Over the years i tried different editors, i was looking for some real mac 'style' programs! It has many of the requisite features you'll need to get your photos looking better, plus a lot of other stuff besides.
If advanced image editing functions are a mystery to you, GIMP may be a bit daunting — I might recommend Acorn or Photoshop Elements instead. Lightroom's real strength is in photo cataloging and organization, but Adobe has built in a lot of functionality that make it possible to make your photos look a whole lot better without resorting to other tools. You can organize and search tens of thousands of photos easily with Lightroom not even breaking a sweat, and you can edit some of that data just as easily.
That nets you not only the applications but the regular updates that Adobe releases for it, along with Adobe's companion Lightroom application — a supremely useful photo cataloging and non-destructive photo editing tool in its own right.
Photoshop Elements includes myriad tools to help your photos look better, with an interface that isn't quite as daunting as Photoshop's.
Photoshop Elements Editor eschews search, organization and sharing functionality included with the "regular" version, which you can download from Adobe directly. The black interface is prescient — Apple's offering a dark interface for Yosemite, but Pixelmator had it long before.
We'll find out more about Photos' functionality and capabilities in the months to come, since it's expected out in 2015. The new version allows users of the company's cloud storage service to keep files while they are offline, along with Spotlight Search support for iOS 9 users. While there are a lot of other applications of a Mac notebook or desktop, these machines are used a lot when it comes to editing or creating new photos or images.

While Adobe Photoshop CS6 is available separately through Adobe’s website, Photoshop Elements 11 is a great tool for photographers who need quick refinements and edits to their existing photos. It is a great tool for color correction, has vast number of filters and features third party plug-in support. It also features layers-based editing, with different layer styles and non-destructive filters. It has over 150 filters and special effect to improve your photos and a bunch of useful retouching tools to get rid of unwanted stuff from your images.
Luckily for Mac users there are plenty of options to choose from, this roundup of HTML and CSS editors pulls together the most popular editing apps with a brief overview of their features. Coda is one of the most popular choices for Mac based Web Designers and is also my personal preference. The application includes some super handy features for writing and debugging your CSS such as Live Preview and the X-Ray Inspector but being a lightweight application designed specifically for CSS edits, you will need a collection of supporting apps in your toolbox. It includes all the common features you would expect from an editing app and has some unique shortcuts that can really speed up the workflow for power users.
Where CSSEdit focused on CSS, Espresso has much wider support for general coding tasks and includes a range of handy navigation, snippet and auto-completion features, not to mention the built in preview engine and FTP support. If you do only use Dreamweaver for coding, the alternative apps mentioned in this post include pretty much the same important features, but also benefit from faster loading times due to their overall more lightweight build.
With the key features of code highlighting, snippets, live validation and support for HTML, CSS, Javascript and PHP it includes everything you need in a small package.
I know that you can write HTML in RapidWeaver, but with all those add-ons people won't bother to learn HTML + CSS to accomplish that stuff because an add-on does it for you. I'm not usually one to purchase apps for web editing, I just use bare-bones programs (text wrangler) but I will definitely be looking into Coda, looks great!
Don't expect to dive into this app and know what you're doing without having a good handle on the fundamentals of image editing tools, however. Photoshop has been the gold standard for raster image editing for decades thanks to Adobe's relentless marketing, its architecture which supports third-party filter plug-ins and its constant reinvention with steady development to aid in new feature design and deployment. But without knowing what Apple's upgrade path will be from iPhoto or Aperture to Photos, it's kind of tough to recommend two products that are clearly coming to the end of their runs. If one does not already have Photoshop CS6 and needs a professional image editing software right out of the the Mac App Store then this is a surely a good option. It has a great photo editing engine, provides sophisticated photo enhancements, one can add various effects and borders to their photos, it is optimized for Retina Displays and also supports RAW files. This live editing cuts out the hassle of changing and re-uploading your files to really speed up your workflow.
4,500 it is much affordable that Photoshop CS6, but a little expensive than the other options available on the Mac App Store. It shows you off the long set of images having very unusual forms and nice pure colors and hues.
