Toronto, ON – In January 2013, a team of cardiologists and a heart transplant recipient will be touching down in the South Pole to raise awareness for heart health and the Heart Failure program at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre, University Health Network. Outdoor Survival Canada has named this expedition coat ‘MISSION’ to capture the spirit of the South Pole journey and the inspirational message behind Test Your Limits.
The Test Your Limits expedition called for a garment that could not only handle ¬–60? Celsius temperatures, but also provide invaluable features for the difficult journey.
The limited edition coat appears in Outdoor Survival Canada’s Red Alert colour and includes all the standard features of the line’s other styles.
Thank you so much for your continued support of the Test Your Limits team and the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre! This commitment is evinced by the approval of a Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation Privacy Policy on October 14, 2003, by the Board of Directors. Together, they will drive an RV across North America stopping to capture the beauty of most of North America’s natural wonders and coastlines.

On the upcoming Test Your Limits trek, the entire team will be outfitted in the ‘MISSION’ coat, the latest Expedition downwear from Outdoor Survival Canada. The program’s mantra is: “At any age, any stage – test your limits”, and this statement is proven by Dale Shippam, a heart transplant patient who is part of this winter’s expedition team. In developing the ‘MISSION’ expedition coat, head designer Johnny Yiu drew from almost 25 years of fashion experience and invaluable input from lead expeditionist and cardiologist, Dr.

New additions to ‘MISSION’ include 360? 3M reflection, D-rings for equipment, grab straps for easy lifting and rescue access, and satellite radio pockets. The focus of the trip will be to test the excellence of the Fujifilm X-System cameras (while wearing OSC),  in extreme conditions to demonstrate the quality and build of this line of cameras. A brand that is already well known throughout Europe and Canada for its functionality and Canadian-made focus, Outdoor Survival Canada brings experience and collaboration into developing the ‘MISSION’ for this South Pole expedition. Heather Ross, Medical Director of the Cardiac Transplant Program at Toronto General Hospital, and her associate, Dr. A signature feature of the coat is a specially-designed tunnel hood with a bracing wire for customized protection. Diego Delgado were there to try on their coats and take a few photos with the team’s official clothing supplier. With Outdoor Survival Canada’s ‘MISSION’ coat, the Test Your Limits team will be warm and protected as they complete their own mission in January.
