If you sometimes feel lost when scouting the aisles of your local supermarket or health food store, confused by natural and organic labels, you are not alone.  Many consumers have preconceived notions when it comes to foods with these labels—or lack thereof. Now that we have settled the confusion over natural and organic foods, a question still remains: how do organic products compare to those conventionally grown and produced? Pesticide Residue: Many consumers equate an organic label with pesticide-free food or drink. Health Benefit: A big question for consumers is whether or not there any health benefits to organic food consumption.
In any case, you should always locate the label on foods and read the fine print on the packaging.
Danielle Brown graduated as Valedictorian from SUNY New Paltz in ’12 with a degree in English Secondary Education and a minor in Psychology. We all know the saying “Health comes through the mouth” which is especially true  for organic food produced in environmentally clean, unpolluted soil which is not chemically treated.
Natural, environmentally friendly, organic and microbial fertilizers are used in organic production and animals are fed exclusively with natural, ecological food. In one research project experts made a comparison and got  these numbers: organic food contains 27% more vitamin C, 21% more iron, 29% more magnesium and 13% more phosphorus.

People often are mistaken and estimate too much about products that contain whole grain or when they say it is gluten free or they usually don’t think about the negative effect that ingredients like flax seeds can cause. Though some people consider that organic food is wholesome yet the toaster pastries are toaster pastries after all and they are nothing less than a junk food. Added to this is it is made of corn which is again full of starch which is a junk food again.
Though it is commendable that the serving portion is controlled, yet at the end of the day it is still junk and only the company benefits from this and not the people who eat them.
It does nothing to your body except give it some more calories, with the sugar in it which you have tried so hard burning. The next time you shop for food products, check the ingredient list and not be carried by the label or the packaging.

Spanning more than 30 product categories, the Simple Truth line includes a wide variety of foods such as milk, salads, dried fruit, nuts, sodas, yogurt, chips and quinoa. Furthermore, most of us vegans try to avoid products that have harmed or exploited animals at some point in the manufacturing process as much as we can, such as cosmetics that have been tested on animals.
Simply put, veganic products are organic crops grown without the use of any animal by-products, such as animal-derived fertilizers.
Because I was recently given the chance to review several products from One Degree Organic Foods, a company that is committed to providing the highest quality veganic breads, flours, and grains available. I wanted to make my go-to avocado toast as a crunchy side for a breakfast tofu scramble, so used both flavors of bread to test out avocado spread, Earth Balance spread, and a combination of the two. I tend to pile a lot of toppings on my sandwiches, sometimes with multiple flavor pairings (think pesto on one slice, and garlic rosemary vegan mayo on the other!), so the mild flavor of the One Degree Organics Bread does not detract from my preferred sandwich arrangements at all.
As the picture I took proves, this bread is able to hold a lot in while teetering on that perfect line between fluffy and toasty. I must admit that, for me, the taste of the bread on its own was nothing especially impressive, but this did not deter it from doing well on my “tests.” What is undeniably impressive is the company’s commitment to veganic ingredients, small farms, transparency, and well-being for their customers and the planet. To some, the labels guarantee quality, the foods that don them hidden trophies among the unlabeled products overwhelming the shelves.
Department of Agriculture (USDA) has stepped in to protect consumers: they create the standards for and oversee regulations on product labeling.
With many of the common foods gaining organic certification being fruits, vegetables, and milk, it is important to know what you are getting  (or missing out on) when you snatch up—or pass on—these organically certified products.
In reality, government standards mandate these products have minimal amounts of (not be free of) pesticides and chemicals. Be an educated buyer: look at the ingredients, compare the labels, and even do research on the company before you make your purchase.
Born and raised in Merrick on Long Island, she is now pursuing her Masters in English at SUNY New Paltz. Organic products look the same as products not labeled as “organic products”, but the first difference you will notice is intense smell and taste. Hydrogenated fat and sodium dangerous glutamine (MSG) are some of the banned additives associated with many health problems. This yogurt is nothing but a waste food as it literally adds more sugar content to your body which you are already striving so hard to reduce.

In addition, the Simple Truth brand offers several natural products, including meat, chicken and eggs. By using plant-based fertilizers from organic sources, veganic products are not exposed to antibiotics and chemicals (often given to the animals that animal-based fertilizers are derived from) and are a safe, ethical, and “true to Mother Nature” option for both vegan and non-vegan shoppers. From what I researched about the company, One Degree Organic Foods is genuinely committed to upholding their philosophy of offering pure and simple foods, and running their business transparently.
One Degree Organic Foods was kind enough to send me sample loaves of both their Lentil Grain Bread and Sesame Sunflower Bread.
The Lentil Grain Bread is heartier, has a more distinctive crust, and all in all tastes quite traditional. The overall meal was quite fantastic, though the bread did get a little soggy from being next to the tofu. In fact, its awesome texture accentuated the sandwich-eating experience, being just the right amount of softness for sandwich bread.
For the ethically-minded Chic Vegan looking to make an even more conscientious statement with her purchases, or anyone who appreciates simple, clean ingredients, One Degree Organic Foods’ bread varieties are tasty, versatile options worth exploring. Products may have been given to our contributors free for review, but the opinions expressed on this website belong to the contributors.
To others, the labels indicate higher prices for seemingly similar foods available at lower costs.
According to the National Organic Program regulations, organic farmers are banned from using synthetic pesticides, but can use those of botanical, biological, or mineral origin.
Most organic products contain more nutrients, vitamins and minerals than conventionally produced food.
First off, they offer a lot of information for consumers about the definition and benefits of veganic crops, and only use ingredients sourced from the best veganic farms “grown responsibly by people with integrity.” The aim is to make their products as sustainable as possible by keeping the final product close to the original source in terms of ingredients used and their relationships with the growers. I decided to put these breads to the test by using them to make my favorite bread-y concoctions, as well as trying them in forms that I thought other Chic Vegans might enjoy.
The bread is somewhat porous, making it a great vessel for the almond butter, and both the slight sweetness of the Sesame Sunflower and the oats in the Lentil Grain make for pleasant yet subtle complements to the toppings. Are these labels just marketing ploys to appeal to and manipulate the health-conscious consumer?
In this way, the pesticide levels in organic as opposed to non-organic products are typically lower. In addition, consumers can explore the website to find out about many of the farms that One Degree Organic Foods partners with.
You can tell that both varieties are packed full of grainy goodness, and the slices are definitely quite filling.
Furthermore, in efforts to make information readily available, One Degree Organic Foods allows consumers to scan a QR code on their packaging to reveal not only the contents and nutritional information of that particular item, but the origin and grower of each individual ingredient! It’s not the kind of bread you would mindlessly eat half a loaf of while watching your favorite show, nor one that a child would necessarily favor (in other words…it tastes quite healthy!), but pretty solid in my book.
