Thanks to the large windows and sloped roof you can actually still get a great view when you’re up in the sleeping loft. I went to the project website, hoping for a floor plan but it was nothing more than what Alex has already shown us.
However, it seems as if designers are still trying to cram a large home into a small space. The porthole in the roof over the deck seems more whimsical than functional, although I can certainly appreciate how it brings lots of light into the deck area.
Kate, I understand where you’re coming from, but I was under the impression that people submitted designs here so that they could get feedback. Our friend John built a simple gravity feed shower for us using a 55 gallon barrel on top of the roof of a boat that serves as my writer’s retreat at the float cabin. Jul 11, 2014 by Shannon This unique take on a tiny shipping container home was built by Hartman Kable in Seattle, inspired by a New York architect. May 29, 2014 by Shannon Most of us are well aware of how expensive it can be to buy or build build a house or cabin, which is just one of the reasons that tiny houses are an attractive alternative to larger dwellings. This is the story of how a woman is building tiny hobbit-style homes in Chelan, Washington. Her name is Kristie Wolfe, and if the name rings a bell, it’s because she also built a DIY tiny home in Hawaii with her mom that you can vacation in if you want to. You can share this hobbit-style tiny home with your friends and family for free using the e-mail and social media re-share buttons below. If you enjoyed this hobbit-style tiny house vacation you’ll absolutely LOVE our Free Daily Tiny House Newsletter with even more!

I’m planning an entire village made up of 3 hobbit holes and an above ground pub looking communal kitchen.
It’s a cordwood floor and there isn’t a lot of info on it and it may be the most tedious floor you can do! He has a passion for exploring and sharing tiny homes (from yurts and RVs to tiny cabins and cottages) and inspiring simple living stories. Yes, I understand that it would compromise the design on one side but I couldn't be in here for more than an hour without getting the Heebie-Jeebies.
It gently encloses the space nearest the house footprint and may just be one of the more clever SECURITY measures to deter break-ins. So, one side would be opaque and the other transparent; might make a nice contrast for a nutter like me. Because heat rises, the downstairs was always too cold and the upstairs was always too hot. More creative alternatives are needed to eliminate a bedroom set, living room set and office as well as cupboards, closets, shelving and all the things we enclose within them.
If you visit the architects web site you’ll see that the design was abandoned for a larger one, one that would fit the families needs better. When ever I look at houseplans, yes, I’ll make them over because the house would be for me. If everything was thought of, it would be most likely to be too expensive to put together except by someone with only the deepest pockets. Alex’s followers come from every walk in life and bring with them a boatload of experience and intelligent ideas. For instance, I’m a highly experienced baker and frequent at least 10 baking websites.
It also has practical applications in natural disaster relief, and emergency shelter scenarios. These guys even did it somewhat off the grid, batteries, rain barrels pumps all that stuff I love! If you’re looking for the perfect tiny house with everything you could ever ask for this is it. The Opportunity Village is a tiny house community for the homeless which helps them with life’s necessities. It is a very modern prefab home.  The unit is movable via a crane which can place it almost anywhere.

Christian and Eric Hoffman are the father son team who created and built this cute tiny cabin. This one is designed as if a carpenter was living in it so it features a lot of those elements. We made a jig and cut a bunch of different logs with a chopsaw (about 1200) then adhered them to the floor using heavy construction liquid nails. We invite you to send in your story and tiny home photos too so we can re-share and inspire others towards a simple life too.
Very, very Pacific Coast construction which is what influenced me so heavily as a child to become an architect. The interaction between interior and exterior, especially in this kind of dwelling, is really important and I wonder how this one would work? Some of these things were just found as being neat or having a sense of pride in what they’ve done and shared. Built for $22k ($33k including all cabinets and appliances), our tiny house feels spacious, roomy and totally livable. They are waiting for a big investor so that they might be able to actually build the tooling equipment necessary. I’m gonna be in the market to buy or build in the next few months and a home like this would be right up my ally. 2) LOVE the mirrored shapes: circle cut out on deck roof and large circle lighting fixture inside of home. If this was used for more than that, I'd have to add just a tiny amount of art objects to make it my own.
3) Uncluttered, pristine interior that really focuses your attention on the outside, NOT the inside! I also hear a lot of good ideas, and just because I can’t climb a ladder to the loft, isn’t really all that important. Kind of takes away from the seclusion and serenity of staying put in one place for a day and a night, if you have to go out for dinner and breakfast too. I’d also replace that dog with a cat (insert good natured but slightly mocking emoticon of choice).
