Each session is bespoke, tailored to the needs and interests of the individual group and delivered in a location of your choice at a time of your choosing. A mental health ‘first aid’ course that helps people to identify, understand and support someone with poor mental or emotional health is now available in Exeter. The course aims to make mental health support as important as first aid in the workplace and beyond, giving individuals the confidence to help someone who is experiencing problems. The announcement coincides with Mental Health Awareness Week which this year is focusing on anxiety, one of the leading causes of mental ill-health in the world. Statistics show that one in four people will experience some kind of mental health problem over the course of a year.
The true cost to society has only recently been recognised, and although the Government is determined to close the gap in treatment of physical and mental health conditions and extra investment has been promised, it takes time for funding and policy changes to filter through. The accredited course is similar to a standard first aid course as it teaches people to recognise crucial warning signs, in this case of emotional, rather than physical, distress.
Event details may change at any time, always check with the event organizer when planning to attend this event or purchase tickets.

In terms of first aid, a poison is defined as a substance with an inherent property that tends to expunge life or impair health. Absorbed poisons are harmful substances that are introduced to the system via unbroken skin and mucous membranes.
Complete a primary survey, making sure to treat any life-threatening issues and conditions before continuing on.

Remove any clothing that has been in contact with the poison and make sure not to come into contact with the clothing until they have been thoroughly cleaned. Wash the affected skin thoroughly with soap and water, making sure not to let the affected area(s) touch any other part of the body.
Emergency First Aid is for people who want a general knowledge of first aid principles and the emergency treatment of injuries. Ontario Poison Centre provides telephone consultation in the event of of a real or potential poisonings. Ask for details, we offer CPR, AED and First Aid courses for individuals, family, businesses and groups! There are many schools of thought as to what is supposed to be in your personal “Bug Out” Bag.  Some people, like myself, lean more heavily toward the medical aspect. There are others who lean more toward survival and self defense, stocking their bags with more Ammunition and Water proof matches than first aid.
One of our ADMINS, Jacqueline Carrizosa has a helpful video about her Scorpion Bag on Youtube. I took a good look through the toy aisles and I am pleased to see that there are a bunch of great toys left.
Unfortunately there aren’t any mainstream toy coupons available to print right now, however we do have a bunch of Target Cartwheels discounts that you may want to load to your account just in case. And as always, be sure to come back and let us know if your store dropped and what fantastic deals you scored! This Manual Handling Safety at Work course is accredited by NUCO. We are all exposed at times to some form of manual handling such as lifting, carrying, pulling and pushing actions that can be compounded by simultaneous movements such as climbing or pivoting. The risks arising from manual handling have been recognised by the Health and Safety Executive for many years, as evidenced in their regulations and advisory activities promoting good practice. This course provides an ideal approach to safer and more effctive manual handling – not only meeting HSE recommendations, but also promoting good and safe practices in any situation. A maximum of 16 students can be accommodated on this course and all candidates must be a minimum of 14 years of age to qualify.

Sources of anxiety most prevalent include mounting pressure on employees in the workplace to perform for less reward, increased exam stress for young people and growing numbers of breakdowns in family relationships.
Many products on the market today include warnings and poison symbols on their label that typically come in the shape of a triangle, diamond or octagon that contains a foreboding skull and crossbones (example to the right). They are particularly harmful due to the fact that some poisons will indicate contact by producing a reddening of the skin, swelling, blisters, and burns while others, like insecticides, can be introduced to the system while leaving the skin unharmed.
A filter mask should be worn to prevent inhalation as well as at least one pair of gloves should be worn as the affected area is flushed with cool water or, if the substance is a powder, begin by brushing away any extra amounts with a dry cloth. Particular attention should be paid to hard to reach or hidden areas, such as beneath the fingernails, behind the ears, and in the hair.
Please view our Ottawa First Aid Course Locations and feel free to contact us regarding on-site training at your premises. Personal injuries resulting from incorrect manual handling in the workplace, accounts for over one million working days lost per year as well as the pain and suffering experienced by the casualties. The Regulations require employers to provide their employees with health and safety information and training – supplemented, as necessary, with more specific information and training on manual handling injury risks and prevention. Those who complete a course receive a valuable learning experience and gain new skills that are useful in all aspects of life. However, there are many products that do not include these warnings, such as alcohol and substances that are safe within the recommended dosage but harmful if abused. I have a higher echelon of care than most people and am able to perform more advanced life saving techniques. One, it will bog you down and Two, if you don’t know what you’re doing you’re going to kill somebody.
