This course is HSENI Approved and is for anyone who wants to receive training in emergency first aid.
The Emergency First Aid at Work course will allow you to apply basic first aid techniques to a variety of situations from conscious to unconscious casualties as well as dealing with breathing and non-breathing casualties.
It is accredited by Qual Safe and on successful completion of the course and continual assessment, the delegate will receive a Level 2 Emergency First Aid at Work certificate.
CommunityNI is developed, managed and hosted by NICVA - Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action. EFAW training enables a first-aider to give emergency first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill while at work.
FAW training includes EFAW and also equips the first-aider to apply first aid to a range of specific injuries and illnesses. This 1 day course is suitable for smaller businesses that have identified a need to have employees who are trained and certified to the standard of this course by an official first aid training provider. The EFAW course covers the essential elements of first aid, giving the trained first aider the skills and knowledge to deal with an emergency situation until help from the ambulance service arrives.
Upon completion of a practical and multi choice assessment, successful candidates will gain an Emergency First Aid Certificate valid for three years.
Most courses are arranged for dates and times to suit you, though we do schedule a number of popular courses that can be booked on request (see the Scheduled section at the foot of this page for further details).

Although not currently available for booking we have the following dates in 2015 also scheduled for further Emergency First Aid at Work courses; May 1st, May 15th, June 7th, July 3rd, July 10th, July 17th, July 24th and Aug 15th. The Emergency First Aid at Work course provides practical training on preventing situations from becoming worse and learning the vital life-saving skills that a trained Emergency First Aider can use until help arrives.
The Emergency First Aid at Work course is suited for those who would like to improve their first aid knowledge and training,  particularly for business employees who operate in low risk working environments. Please note:  If any member of your staff has asthma, a heart condition or allergies which has been included in your work place risk assessment, the HSE recommend the First Aid At Work 3 day course is considered, as these conditions are not covered by the 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work course. If you have more than 6 staff this can be organised on site from 625 BBX subject to numbers.
Health & Safety Consultancy including compliance, policy development, risk assessments and risk management. This is specifically suited for nominated first aiders in smaller, low risk working environments. If your workplace is a low risk environment with no more than 50 employees or a high risk environment with less than 5 employees the EFAW course will ensure you meet the requirements of the HSE guidelines.
The location of a course can be either your place of work (dependant on numbers) or one of a number of local, easily accessible, facilities that we will arrange.


The courses, which are certificated by AoFAQ (an Ofqual approved Awarding Organisation), are ?60.00 per person. The course is suitable for work environments such as; food processing, retail, light engineering and construction The EFAW course offers a cost effect solution to meeting HSE regulations and creating a safer working environment. Additional courses particularly suitable for charities and small groups are also available and can be delivered at your premises.
These include Basic First Aid, Paediatric First Aid (QCF Level 2), AED (defibrillator) and CPR training.
