I’m going to teach two preschool summer camps this month, and I’m so excited that the first one is about pirates!
Pirate Pete is on the lookout for a crew, and he has a variety of specifications he’s looking for. An animal pirate crew, led by an alligator captain, is off to capture every letter of the alphabet.
My name is Mary Catherine, and I love to share meaningful {and fun} learning activities for kiddos!
Here you will find our selection of place value activity sheets using blocks and balloons to help your child learn their place value up to 1000.
When children first learn to count, they learn the number sequence, usually up to ten, but without an understanding of what the numbers mean. Next, they learn to count objects and numbers of things that are in front of them and learn 1:1 correspondence when counting.
During this stage children are still learning their number sequence, and that numbers continue past 10. Eventually, they manage to learn to count up to 100, and that numbers up to 100 can be split up into tens and ones. The following worksheets involve learning place value, reading and writing numbers up to 1000.

These sheets are geared towards children who have started on their journey into 3 digit numbers, and who are able to count in hundreds, tens and ones. The worksheets provide a range of place value activities using blocks and balloons from matching to counting and coloring. By using blocks and balloons for counting, the concept is reinforced in several different ways in different contexts. The worksheets in this section are carefully graded, allowing you to introduce concepts at an easier level before introducing harder work. All the sheets in this section will help your child to develop their confidence handling numbers up to 1000.

If you're new here, I'd love for you to take a moment to subscribe to my email newsletter or follow me on Pinterest'. I have pirate costumes for the girls for this Halloween, but (as of yet!) they have no clue what a pirate is.
