Nowadays, we are faced with the impact of the world’s vulnerabilities especially during natural calamaties and disasters. Individually, there are many things that one can do in order to mitigate the effects of such disasters. There is a big difference concerning those who have their things to aid them during emergency situations than those who do not have them.
You should always prepare a spare battery for your cellphone and other device so that you will be able to send a message to friends and other relatives in times of crisis. When campers pack for a camping trip, they are typically thinking about what convenience items they should take. However, neglecting the essential tools needed for survival will end up leaving campers high and dry if the worst should happen. You will never miss your cell phone more until it dies a hundred miles away from the next power outlet.
Many solar powered chargers offer interchangeable input devices and battery charging stations guaranteeing that campers can charge any device, anywhere.
This doesn’t mean campers need to drag around some massive water pump and purification system though.
Paracord is an excellent tool to have, but without a sharp knife it cut it, it is significantly less effective as campers can only use one rope for one task.
For campers that want an even higher chance of fire starting success should disaster strike, pack a small flint and carbon fire starter. Most campers end up bringing a tarp along on their camping trip because it is excessively useful. Not only do they make for a waterproof addition to an improvised shelter, but they can be used to carry or collect water. About UsFrom time to time we may share links to various products, and services in our posts, and articles for which we are affiliates, or partners.
The semi-automatic AR-15 based sniper weapon system, often referred to as a Special Purpose Rifle (SPR) or Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR), is a precision weapon ideal for close to medium ranges (25yd-800yd). In the AR-15 rifle, the barrel is threaded to the barrel extension which functions as the receiver on a traditional rifle.
In any rifle, accuracy is largely the result of the perfect alignment of the bolt, barrel, and receiver as well as the quality of the barrel. In the AR rifle, the upper receiver is simply a housing for the bolt and carrier and an attachment point for the barrel. The beauty of this design is that free-floating a quality barrel in an AR-15 rifle results in accuracy that rivals very expensive finely tuned bolt-action rifles.
Take a rifle with a military barrel contour, hold the receiver so that it cannot move, and pull down on the barrel with one finger. If replacement with a rail system is an option, there are several systems that can free-float the barrel without gunsmithing. If a bipod is used, it should always be attached to the free-floating handguards and not to the barrel. As mentioned earlier, a 20” SS match grade heavy barrel chambered for 5.56 is primarily used when building a DMR-15. For a Special Purpose Rifle or Designated Marksman Rifle, the ideal scope to mount is one capable of 1x-8x or 2.5x-10x magnifications. For dedicated long-range shooting with a DMR more so than an SPR, more traditional scopes usually work if mounted as far forward as possible in standard rings. The standard mil-spec trigger found on any AR-15 is rough, gritty, single stage, and usually requires approximately 8lbs of force to fire the weapon. The 5.56 cartridge has had a reputation of poor to mediocre performance in combat though it deserves a much better reputation than it has.
If a 5.56 projectile passes straight through a person, it makes a very small wound channel. Black hills now has incredible 55gr and 62gr TSX cartridges that expand reliably to an average of .45 inches, and tend to maintain about 100% of their weight for deep penetration. These cartridges are in use by the US military and are used exclusively by many in the special operations community who have found them to be far more effective than standard M855 ammunition. The standard A2 buttstock, while longer than ideal for a tactical rifle, works well for a scoped rifle. For the designated marksman who wants more flexibility in his weapon system, there are several forward vertical grip designs that incorporate a built in bipod of some kind. The primary difference between these two sniper rifle builds comes down to length and weight. Over the course of writing The Shooter’s Bible Guide to Concealed Carry, I learned a great deal about what it takes to survive a deadly armed encounter. One of the major takeaways from that book—and I hope it comes through in the text—is that regular, routine handgun training will give you a leg-up on a violent attacker.
Most crooks don’t routinely practice with their guns, and very few have handgun skills that even a rank beginner can achieve in a few months with proper instruction and training. If you plan to use a handgun for personal defense, then it’s absolutely essential that you practice regularly. The LaserLyte Color Guard trainer flashes four different colors to simulate shoot or no shoot scenarios. The LaserLyte Trigger Tyme Trainer pistol contains a 650 NM class IIIA laser powered by 3 A76 batteries that are good for 15,000 shots, and each pull of the trigger emits a red laser light that is visible when it strikes an object. Like all LaserLyte targets, this reactive target keeps score, so you can compete against yourself or friends. The power switch, located on the front of the target, allows the shooter to practice with or without sounds enabled (In case you’re training in the office and don’t want the boss to know).
The randomized color fills the whole screen and then disappears once the shot has been made. Though it may look and feel like a game, I rank the LaserLyte Color Guard among the most valuable pistol training tools on the market. The LaserLyte Color Guard system allows new shooters to practice grip, stance, trigger control, sight alignment and more while firing at a target with a firearm that has realistic dimensions, yet it doesn’t involve firing live ammunition.
Many new shooters hold a gun for the very first time at a CCW class and are firing live ammunition within a few minutes. It’s much better to ease a new shooter into live fire by allowing them to start with this laser system.
If you’re thinking of taking a course and aren’t sure about gun handling, this training device is perfect for you. The Color Guard Trainer Target Kit comes with a LaserLyte Trigger Tyme laser training pistol. I also incorporate more specific tactical drills with this trainer, setting it up in my house for real-world training in the event of a home invasion, practicing drawing from a holster and firing and working on movement drills. Fencing in the Renaissance style plays a prominent part in historical re-enactment, combining the quickness of light blades with the structure and spirit of the duel.
The Daniel Defense M4 Carbine, V7 uses our Modular Float Rail (MFR) 12.0, providing each shooter with the ultimate in modular adaptability. All Daniel Defense products carry a 100% satisfaction guarantee against defects in original materials and workmanship.

The Banshee Plate Carrier is one of the best 100% Made in the USA 500 Cordura Plate Carriers on the market at it's price point. Removeable wrap-around cummerbund has fully adjustable and is capable of accepting side plate Molle pouches on the inner-side of the cummerbund. The Banshee compliments our Body Armor very well, and is designed to work with our Advanced Shooters Cut. There are various manifestations of these vulnerabilities and one of which is the totality of lives lost and destructed from such unfortunate events. One of which is through preparation of Survival Gear List that will help you identify the things needed when a typhoon or a natural calamity strikes your place. Because of this, one may lessen the chance of getting into the worst situation and high up his chances on survival and recovery.
These emergencies are usually followed by fluctuations in the power that supply electricity so it is important to have something to rely to whenever you need something to shed some light. This should be used as a signaling tool in order for you to seek help with other people during worst case scenario. In addition, also prepare batteries for your flashlight since most of these devices operate through the use of energy. Not many people these days like to think about what could happen when disaster strikes their trip to the great outdoors or what gear they would need. Before heading out on that big trip, there is some essential survival gear that every modern camper must have. Communication devices are essential in survival situations not only for trying to contact help but for navigation. It may be a few days, but eventually these solar powered devices will allow cell phones or GPS devices to be charged. Water purifiers come in sizes smaller than a bottle of water now, with many being tube-like straws that allow for outdoors people to drink straight from the water without having to boil or filter it first. It’s a small accessory, but it can have a big impact on a survival situation out in the wild.
Most campers feel there is no need to have any, they have a tent, so what would they ever use any rope for? It is small enough to be woven into a stylish bracelet and strong enough to hold two grown men (in the case of the average 550 paracord that holds 550 pounds suspended.) Paracord is easy to transport, strong and useful in a number of situations besides just building shelters. A sharp knife is a must even outside of a survival situation; it has thousands of great uses from cutting food to helping make a fire. Even if campers are worried about their kids playing with it, a sharp knife is still an absolute essential for the modern camper.
While modern campers may know the basic theory of creating fire with a hand drill or another technique, they are all time consuming and difficult.
This is an age old essential, but still should not be left out of the modern camper’s survival kit.
The spotter then has the defensive firepower of light semi-auto, with long-range capabilities to match his training should the need arise. Several companies offer float tubes for service rifle competitors that are almost indistinguishable from military issue configuration. The rails are removable, so only necessary rails need to be installed in any location around the handguard. In short summary, the correct free-floated barrel, optics, ammunition, and trigger are the most important factors. SPR-15s are essentially the same rifle as a DMR but are often found utilizing an 18” mid-weight barrel. The charging handle generally will end up under the scope in this case and an extended charging handle makes operation easier.
It is an excellent intermediate barrier penetration cartridge, with excellent expansion and weight retention after penetrating vehicles or windshield glass. There are very expensive stocks out there that have buttons and wheels and really cool looks that would require three hands and an engineering degree to operate.
Choosing something with only the necessary rails for the equipment to be mounted will shave unnecessary weight and bulk. Many of the newer designs are very awkward to use and have no real advantage over traditional designs.
A Special Purpose Rifle (SPR) will almost always sport an 18” mid-weight barrel while the Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR) will utilize a heavy-weight 20” barrel. Most of this information came from speaking with experts in the personal defense arena, but some of it came via statistics gathered from violent criminals themselves. Armed assaults happen very quickly, and you’ll have to rely on muscle memory developed over the course days or months or years at the range. But training is expensive and time consuming; you’ll need to buy ammunition and carve out time to go to the range. That’s a strong endorsement, but this training tool accomplishes so much with shooters of various skill levels that I don’t think it’s an oversell.
I can’t get to the range as much as I’d like, but there’s no excuse for me not to put 200 or 300 shots or more through the Color Guard each day. Other laser trainer pistols are available for purchase as well, such as the Trigger Tyme TT85 Laser Training Revolver shown here. Designed for the rapier fencer with a preference for the cup-hilt style who wishes to spar in safety, This Hanwei Practical Cup-Hilt Rapier from Hanwei fits the bill perfectly. Should the shooter desire, the tube can be run “slick” with an uninterrupted top rail that runs the length of the tube. If your Daniel Defense product shows evidence of such defects, Daniel Defense will make every accommodation to fix, repair, or replace your rail system in the most expeditious and inexpensive manner possible.
The government with the help of the civil society and some private sector are thinking of ways and means to lessen the impact and to prepare for these events as much as possible.
In terms of upcoming disasters and calamities, it is better to come up with a Survival Gear List because it is better to be safe than sorry. This should be used in getting the other necessary things and in doing other important and immediate matters.
Browse our site and you will learn what is a good general List.Storage of survival gear? You need to keep a minimum of a three day supplies of food, water and clothing in your car. That’s all well and good until they find themselves with no shelter and no rope that would make building one much easier. By dedicating the build of a rifle for this sole purpose, an AR-15 can become the top choice for a semi-automatic sniper system. The rifle can also be used as a backup for the sniper’s bolt-action rifle should it become disabled for any reason. The bolt locks into the barrel extension when it is in battery, and this group of parts lock together to contain the cartridge in the chamber and guide the bullet toward the target. Much time and expense is spent on truing and matching the mating surfaces of these parts when tuning the accuracy in a bolt rifle. The upper receiver touches only the barrel extension where the barrel is held in place by the barrel nut.

If the barrel moves while shooting with iron sights, the front sight moves as well and will partially compensate for the variation. If a gunsmith is willing to take a hacksaw to the delta ring and weld spring, a two-piece design such as a Midwest Industries Two-Piece Free-Float Hangaurd can be installed without removing the front sight tower and flash hider.
Adjusting to a higher magnification allows more precision for longer ranges or smaller targets.
Backup iron sights will rarely fit under the scope and would require removal of the optic if they did. It was designed to be fired from a long barreled SAW at a husky potato-fed Soviet soldier wearing a flack jacket. Both Magpul stocks have adjustable length of pull but are longer than standard collapsable stocks. Both rifles will handle CQB and medium range sniping though the SPR carries a slight advantage for CQB due to shorter length and less weight while the DMR leans towards the other direction with less recoil and slightly higher muzzle velocities.
To help supplement your time on the range, LaserLyte has developed a number of training systems that help develop the critical skills you need to become a proficient shooter. When turned on, it emits four different colored lights through the front of the target area.
There are fewer distractions, like muzzle blast and recoil, and instructors can help students develop proper gun handling skills safely. The laser unit is brutally honest, too; choke the trigger or pull back at an angle, and your shot will jump off the target screen. No, but it’s an effective training supplement, and if you’re serious about personal defense it’s one of the best ways to sharpen your skills and develop muscle memory. The rapier blade is similar in design to the practical blades for the swept-hilts but the length of the tang is adapted to the cup-hilt. In addition, the 3” Modular Picatinny Rail sections allow the shooter to customize the rail set up. Daniel Defense does not warranty products or damage caused to our products by the correct or incorrect installation of other manufacturer’s products. We label the Banshee as one of our ProLine series, meaning it's built and designed for Duty use. You never know what can happen in these situations, and having these things at your disposal gives you a lot more fighting chance to survive. You may store and keep a considerable amount of liters so that you will have some whenever they are necessary. However, when that gallon runs out and campers are faced with a choice between a twenty mile walk to closest beacon of civilization or some questionable stream water, that gallon doesn’t really seem like it was enough. Companies such as Leupold, Schmit & Bender, Vortex, Valdada IOR, Millett, and Burris make this type of optic. Magpul has released an enhanced version of their MBUS flip up iron sight that sports a lower profile for use with low mounted scopes.
Fragmentation requires a properly designed projectile and sufficient velocity to cause fragmentation. Today our soldiers are firing that cartridge from 14.5? barrels at 95 pound insurgents wearing man-dresses and durka durka towels. A shorter stock and higher cheekpiece make little sense for the rifles we are discussing here.
They are also fairly heavy for those who wish to add weight for recoil reduction and to better balance the weapon due to the heavier 20” barrel. There are adaptors available to mount Harris or other sling swivel mount bipods to a Picatinny rail. The DDM4v7 is equipped with a single pinned low profile gas block that is drilled, taper reamed, and press fit into place to securely attach the low profile gas block to the barrel assembly. The Banshee is a proven carrier, weighing in at only 2lb's 5oz giving you a light-weight platform to build your rig. A traditional bolt-action sniper weapon is not ideal for clearing buildings and other close-in work that is common in today’s urban environments. Some sniper instructors did a demonstration while training designated marksmen that really drove these points home.
Rigidity plays a large factor when balancing the barrel’s harmonics and reducing any barrel sway when firing. They also work against each other: the shorter the stock, the shorter a cheekpiece must be for the charging handle to clear. There are a few companies that produce sturdy grips which split in half to become a traditional style bipod with fully adjustable legs.
Introduced in 2014, the V7 is one of 4 models that is finished with the new Mil Spec+ Cerakote. Padded shoulder straps include a cover for the quick release buckles, also providing extra real-estate for gear and pouches. People who are trapped or those who find themselves stuck without water will eventually die without this precious commodity. Millett’s DMR-1, while not a Schmitt & Bender by any means, provides solid quality for the price.
If possible, utilize both options for added redundancy incase optics become severely damaged while in the field. I know from experience that a collapsible buttstock on a scoped AR-15 never seems long enough even when wearing body armor. Some vertical grip bi-pods contain a built-in 120 lumen LED tactical light to combine three essential accessories in one compact package. This rifle also comes with the newly designed, rugged and comfortable Daniel Defense Buttstock and Pistol Grip. The decision to store supplies in your basement is a good idea if you live in a tornado prone area, a bad idea if you live in a flood prone area.
The heavier 20” SS barrel stabilizes the rifle better than that of a carbine length barrel allowing the operator to fire slightly faster and more accurately.
I like a little more length on a buttstock and a rubber pad to grip body armor when necessary. It seems that most of the optics with ballistic drop compensating reticles for the 5.56 are designed for the M855 or other cartridges with similar trajectories. An adjustable cheekpiece is ok to adjust for different shooters as long as it clears the charging handle. The group fired from the sandbag rest was several inches higher on the target at only 100 yards.
From an M4 barrel, the velocity drops to the point that fragmentation often does not occur past 100 yards. You also run the risk of rodents attacking your supplies as well.Where can you buy survival gear?
