Sure, we all like to say we’re prepared for an emergency situation — but how many of us truly are? My purse might already be jam-packed with stuff, but I’ll be adding this to it tonight.
Be sure to watch the great survival tip at the end, and please SHARE if you think it’s important to be prepared! These items will not only prevent infection, but they’re also great for starting fires.
A tiny compass might be important if you’re forced to travel through unfamiliar terrain — where you might have to provide your own food. Slip it into your pocket, purse, glove compartment, or backpack — and you're ready for anything!
Be sure to watch the video below for another great survival tip, and please SHARE if you think it’s important to be ready for anything! This item will be shipped through the Global Shipping Program and includes international tracking.

Some of these ideas where a little too high-tech for me.  But if you know how to pull them off I think they would be pretty cool! And some of the uses were just a little strange and not quite sure if there is really a need for them. I’ve seen quite a few uses for those cans but I think the ones you featured blow the others out of the water! I have to add these to my someday pile… I have collected a few tins, because I know that I will eventually make something with them! These are all such adorable ideas… I just adore the mouse bed, the atlas and the mini suitcase! Most survival tins only have things you would need to survive a disaster: lighter, knife, fishing line, water purification tablets, and the like.
You just never know when an emergency might strike, and I want to be ready for one at all times. Since space is of the essence, it’s important to pick items that double-up in use — like super glue, which will not only seal rips and tears, but small cuts in the skin as well. Coffee filters will help to remove dirt and debris, while the water purification tablets will kill bacteria. Try to think of other crucial items that might come in handy, like pain killers, a tampon, or a birthday candle (for the wax).

Packaging should be the same as what is found in a retail store, unless the item is handmade or was packaged by the manufacturer in non-retail packaging, such as an unprinted box or plastic bag.
To help inspire you and show all of the possibilities, I have created this post that shows just some of what you can make with an Altoids tin.
I think my favorites are the cute sewing kit and the little travel boxes – the kids would love those!
If you run out of the tablets, aluminum foil can be used to make a cup, which can then be boiled; tear a length of it and fold it up to keep on hand. When your survival kit is all packed, you could wrap a length of wire around the tin itself so you’re always ready. If you reside in an EU member state besides UK, import VAT on this purchase is not recoverable. I put all the mints in a little baggie and gave them to my 7-year-old because she loves them! It might take a few tries to get it arranged, but that will only further familiarize you with your supplies.
