As you can see from my video diary, there's so much to do in Woodstuck but my favorite part was walking around the town and hopping into vintage stores. I recently traveled Upstate for my publicist's birthday celebration and had to find a hotel.
I think as long as you're headed to Woodstock, you might as well get into the vibe of the legendary festival and stay somewhere that somewhat recreates it. So I'm posing a question to The Laundress, a glamorous detergent company I've been using for the past year.
There are also some really great parties happening throughout the weekend too that attendies are privy to.
Spring is always that time where we clean out and clear away the dust and clutter in our lives. I've been covering technology in fitness, fashion and health over the last 5 months and I really hope you enjoy these trend reports. Like I say in the video, we're picking 3 winners per prize category, so you have an excellent chance of winning. In all aspects of life, I'm drawn to women who take a stand on issues, don't care about being labeled a freak and just come out and say whatever it is they feel needs to be said.
Even when I'm home alone and hungry, I can cook a HelloFresh meal and save the 2nd portion for my lunch or dinner the next day. The concept of the beautifully captured campaign was that an exciting adventure could be as close as your backyard. Every trainer I got was just going through the motions, fully knowing I'd disappear on him or her once my free sessions were up.
The day I went to film at KryoLife, owned and operated by Joanna Fryben, I was actually feeling significant shoulder pain. Cryotherapy is hailed as a cure-all and people are using it to get rid of all kinds of things like acne, cellulite, unwanted weight, inflammation, depression, libido problems, and body injuries. To be perfectly honest, the TomTom Spark Cardio + Music frustrated me at first because therea€™s a bit of set up involved. I refer to my life as a juggling act because there are so many facets of what I do that need to be in constant motion. In fact, I have more than a few waist trainers that I've been using for over a year since becoming curious about the waist training trend. As a Latina (my mother is Honduran), I'm feeling the need to spice up Thanksgiving with some Latin peppers. What follows are my favorite photographs from the day I conquered my fears with the Special Olympics of Missouri. You might think that living in downtown Manhattan, I already see it all when it comes to high style. If you haven't been to any of Serene Social's wellness events yet, you're missing out and should definitely go to the one happening tomorrow in NYC at the launch of New York's Fashion Week. I will be there and looking forward to some heart opening rooftop yoga atop the James Hotel in Soho. So here's my Flat Stanley Skincare Secret: I seek out skincare that's packaged flat and in single servings. One of the best parts of going on a road trip adventure is everything that you see along your drive. This trip will take us to some pretty amazing places where nature makes you feel empowered and free. Barre classes first came about in a big way in the 1950's on account of ballerina Lotte Berk. Barre fitness is all about using small movements to work trouble spots and tone every inch of your body by working multiple muscles in unison.
It beats being ohm-ing indoors, especially with the cool breeze off the harbor blowing through your hair. Earlier this summer, I spent one of the most amazing and healthiest travel weekends of my life at the Four Seasons Baltimore. I first saw a pair of Vira Suns on my yoga-instructor-friend, Lauren Imparato, during a yoga class in the middle of Times Square.
What sets this year's event apart from the last few, aside from the bearably cooler weather, was yoga-preneur Lauren Imparato leading the highly publicized morning class. After years of dealing with this issue called a€?sleevage,a€? Ia€™ve concluded that most bras Ia€™ve worn are actually the real culprits.
Before you give a listen though, I want to share my thoughts on what Katya Meyers is doing.
I got in touch with the designer, Geneva Peschka from SunandDaughtersCo on Etsy, to find out more about the inspiration behind the shirt. Geneva bravely decided to act on the lessons she learned through these books and noticed her life change drastically for the better. The new Lotus Print collection by adidas Originals is urban, striking and feminine in a cool, unapologetic way.
If you're a Zumba fanatic, you should know that the cruise doesn't set sail for another 7 months from Fort Lauderdale, Florida but at least you have some time to plan, right? And just in case you stop dancing to see where the hell you're going, the cruise will be sailing to Falmouth, Jamaica with a stop in Labadee, Haiti for a private live concert featuring the hottest Caribbean artists. While the entire Team SCA crew was not on board, 2 of its sailors were there to answer all my questions.
Their sail, while impressive in it's own right, represents something far greater for women. From your clothes to accessories and gadgets, don't take a risk by wearing it for the first time on race day! FOR an exclusive womena€™s fitness class combining Surfset Fitness (the NEW surf-fitness trend) and Real Ryder Spinning (35 minutes of each). I picked out some rather loud styles for our shoot but once I got comfortable in them, I had no qualms wearing them "off-set".
Short girls are always getting brainwashed into thinking we can't pull off more eccentric looks or fashion trends that taller girls can get away with. Leave a comment below telling me which fitness myth gets under your skin and why it's soooo untrue.
If there's something you should know about me it's that I avoid tourist traps at all costs!
For the sake of being accurate, let's call these dangerous deodorants what they really are, which is antiperspirants.

Kousuke* was writing quickly in his notebook, but hesitated when he reached the fourth item.
Most of the items were familiar to them, after all they'd been speaking about dogs, bats, cups and foxes for several weeks. It might be considered surprising that none of these first graders had ever seen these items in print before, or that letters were never mentioned. There are four surface skill areas in language study- Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing (thinking and comprehension are underlying skill areas). When they are taught carefully in a coordinated manner, each of these skills help develop the other three. The first step of writing, as shown in the final photo in the previous article, is simply learning to write individual letters, as a symbol for a phoneme.
Once Taro has learned a dozen basic single letter graphemes, he should be able to write several of the words that he has been using already in spoken class activities.
If the teacher models a basic sentence structure (the first letter is upper case, there are spaces between each word, there must be a period at the end) and introduces the written words 'is' and 'a', Hanako can now write full sentences ('It is a mop.'), and by the time she's learned 24 basic single-letter alphabetic symbols, can now write over a hundred basic nouns.
Words that are within her growing spoken vocabulary, but are written in patterns that are well beyond her beginning stage alphabetic code instruction, can still be part of beginning writing tasks, although in a reduced form. There are four stages of logic and complexity in the English alphabetic code, and as the class curriculum gradually advances through those levels, more and more of the vocabulary that is being spoken in class activities (which are also constantly expanding in scope and complexity) comes within the margins of the student's alphabetic code understanding. It is hard to overstate the value of writing by pronunciation as a teaching and verification method. Writing by personal pronunciation onto blank lined paper also forces Taro to listen carefully (even to himself), something many students don't bother to do.
In an intermediate stage of code instruction, the pattern 'ing' (actually a phonogram, a spelling pattern of multiple graphemes representing multiple phonemes) is commonly introduced, which enables students to now write verbs in present continuous sense (jumping, standing, fishing). When taught carefully and in a coordinated curriculum, individual writing by pronunciation and alphabetic code understanding helps the student develop an accurate understanding and perception (and production) of the spoken language. It would be dishonest to suggest that this procedure of writing by personal pronunciation and code recall is a smooth process for every student, or even for any student. Because the sound structure of spoken Japanese is so dramatically different from spoken English, every Japanese speaker will struggle to perceive, produce and blend the phonemes of the spoken English language, but avoiding that challenge only leads to confusion and inability to communicate, solidifying poor habits and delaying language ability. Because the spelling patterns of romaji taught in public school in fourth grade in Japanese study are so dramatically different from basic English graphemes, every Japanese student will struggle to overcome the distractions of romaji patterns when trying to recall the spelling patterns of written English. Most students (and many teachers as well) would prefer to avoid these difficulties, and certainly, writing by copying is easier, faster and less demanding. When students learn to copy text as complete words, there is no clear connection between what they are writing and what they are saying. The results can be alarming: it is not unusual at all for students to match the numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4 to their text forms, and yet then recite them confidently as 'wum', 'tsuu' 'suree' and 'foe'. When students are taught to copy whole words as stroke patterns, the vital connection between spoken language and its written form is often ignored and unappreciated. When beginning English students write independently by personal pronunciation and alphabetic code recall, all four surface skills of language (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing) are integrated in one focused personal activity.
This will all be happening in a visible and precise format which is both personal and time efficient, which students can use to self-correct some errors in learning, and which their teachers can also use to correct previously unidentified misunderstandings about English, before those misunderstandings become deeply ingrained bad habits which are much more difficult to correct.
Peter Warner (USA, 1953) has been teaching young students in Nagoya, Japan for twenty years, and has been applying the principles of Linguistic Phonics (see Diane McGuinness) to EFL for fifteen years. If the teacher models a basic sentence structure (the first letter is upper case, there are spaces between each word, there must be a period at the end) and introduces the written words 'is' and 'a', Hanako can now write full sentencesA ('It is a mop.'), and by the time she's learned 24 basic single-letter alphabetic symbols, can now write over a hundred basic nouns. While the Hotel Dylan is completely renovated and nothing is "crunchy" about it, you'll feel hippy-esque due to the decor, design and customer service offered at the hotel. Karen and Terry are your go-to contacts and if you email through the hotel's website, one of them will surely get back to you. It's sophisticated yet casual because the top flap and straps are made from a beautiful tanned leather while the rest of the bag is a coated canvas. I hiked to secret beaches, jumped into the ocean off rocky cliffs, slid down mud trails, went stand up paddle boarding and pretty much lived in a bikini the entire time. I rinsed them out with cold water at the end of each day, but when I returned back home to NYC I realized how bad they smelled. The Laundress was actually in my last #MIZ10 Quarterly Box and I trust them completely because they make the best eco-friendly laundry and fabric care.

It's called SPRING 'LEAN AND DECLUTTER YOUR FIT ROUTINE and it's set to be delivered around May 20th.
I recently cleaned out my clothes and shoe closet and ended up throwing a bunch of stuff away and donating the rest. I'll admit, I didn't start until the last year or two when I realized I was accumulating too much stuff. The reason I find them so relevant is because by 2020, wearable technology alone with generate over 20 billion dollars in revenue. Last night I made HelloFresh's Carmelized Onion Burger but instead of fries, the recipe included a roasted cauliflower side. It was supposed to wet your appetite for personal training and help you ease into your new gym-life.
People are investing more of their paycheck in health & wellness, and seem to be more committed to their workouts than ever. But if you want the benefits of the treatment, it's worth enduring the very looooong 3 minutes. So I was genuinely hoping to reap the benefits of whole body cryo and report back to you on how quickly it worked.
Most of the ones Ia€™ve purchased or have been sent to review bite the dust in my gadget drawer at Mizzfit Headquarters. I have what seems like a billion projects going on at once, and if I ignore one of thema€”well, you know what happensa€”the balls, the chainsaws and flaming sticks come toppling down on you and scatter. Like many of you, I saw Kim Kardashian's selfie that she took in her trainer and wondered what's this?
One of my recipes is an appetizer and the other is a side dish to accompany your turkey dinner.
Look for them in the canned and jar food aisle where you'd find things like stewed tomatoes, pasta sauces, etc. I'm pretty sure it was a combination of the perm's harsh chemicals (it was the early 90's afterall) and my onset of puberty. There's an amazing event called Over The Edge that happens nationwide through the Special Olympics, and I decided to do it in St. In addition to raising awareness for this extraordinary event, I raised money to support it. To some extent that's true because of the amazing and innovative fashion sense people have here. Serene Social has teamed up with Lululemon and Suja for this gathering to kick off the calamity of fashion energy that's about to overtake the city.
By the time his photographs started getting noticed through social media, it was already a passion project.
I've talked a lot about Haute Athletics this summer and love that they carry stuff you won't find elsewhere. Since there are women rockin' this style and attitude in their everyday clothing, clearly there should be activewear that expresses the same vibe! Her prodigees went on to turn barre fitness into a successful business of popular, packed classes.
Quite honestly, I felt like I was hiding out, as if I had taken off for an exotic and faraway retreat. But the real highlight was scoring my room at the Four Seasons for their celebration of Global Wellness Day, which was served up as a full week of fit & healthy activities. Men don't like to be kept in the dark, because they know whatever you give them they'll have to top when it's time to shop for you.
I knew this year for Father's Day I was going to give my dad a travel bag that would help him do this.
Here's the link again on Lucy's Blog :)]]>On June 21st, Athleta was the headlining sponsor of Solstice in Times Square put on by Times Square Alliance for it's 13th year. When Katya first reached out to me and shared a bit of her life with me, I was really impressed with her background and how she left a traditional career path to pursue an endeavor her heart was stuck on (racing). She told me that over the last few years she's been doing a lot of self work and stumbled across Spirit Junkie by Gabrielle Bernstein. During my little photoshoot in NYC's Meatpacking District, locals and tourists alike kept pointing out my gear to their group. She works out with me, attends my events and has modeled for print ads (like the one above which actually never ran) and in magazines with me. After writing about Team SCA and their amazing adventure racing around the world, I was invited on a press trip to sail with them. Just to clarify, the Volvo Ocean Race is ongoing and was in full effect while I was on this press trip, but a few crew members at a time are allowed to come off the boat for a leg of the race and rest up. As I write this, there are some incredibly athletic and brave women sailing around the world as part of Team SCA.
It stops in nine countries around the world before finishing in Gothenburg, Sweden this June of 2015. Test everything you plan on wearing for the official half marathon race day during your last few training runs. Now that crazy party church is home to David Barton Gym and LimeLight shops where health and fashion are king and "queen" (it's in Chelsea, so I had to).
And if anyone has ever told you that knee highs only look good on girls with skinny legs, well, that's just NOT TRUE.
Personally, I just think it's a matter of choosing a pattern, color or length that best suit your legs. I like to uncover the healthiest and most active things going on in the places I travel to, and I always prefer to go off the beaten path.
As I get older, I find I need to do more to preserve the firmness, the lift and glow factor of my skin. Staring at the row of images I had propped up along the chalk tray, he yelled across the room, 'What's number four?' Glancing at that image of a leg, I answered playfully, 'Hmmmm, a nose?' Kousuke wasn't fooled a bit: 'No!
It might be surprising that all they were doing was saying the words, and then writing them down. Because the foundation of language is spoken communication, each of these four skills are based on the spoken language. The implication of that is quite strong: as soon as Taro begins developing a sense of the sounds of spoken English, he will benefit tremendously if he also is introduced (gradually) to a basic set of symbols (graphemes) for each of those sounds.
The teacher dictates a single sound (like 'mmm'), and demonstrates a correct stroke pattern for the grapheme, which the students would then write a series of in their large lined notebooks. In fact, he will be eager to, because there is a great personal satisfaction in being able to apply his growing understanding of this letter code to words he actually knows and speaks.
Encoding even simple three-letter CVC pattern words correctly requires both accurate pronunciation and also accurate grapheme recall.
For example, students who are familiar with even just basic colors can be asked to write the first and last 'sounds' of black, pink, brown and green, and in the process will find their perception of even basic vocabulary is improved.
If the reading and writing tasks are coordinated with the code instruction and speaking activities, the process of writing by pronunciation becomes a lesson multiplier: accurate writing encourages careful language perception, and verifies correct pronunciation.
When Taro is writing by his personal pronunciation and code recall, what he puts on the paper reveals what he actually hears and speaks. If Taro avoids the effort of clear enunciation, his errors might never be noticed in a group activity, but the instant he is required to write that vocabulary, his true ability is plainly revealed.
It is not unusual to see students who have been speaking for years about sitting and running to write 'sittin' or 'runnin', even though they may have been enunciating the phonogram 'ing' flawlessly for months.
Indeed it may be the most effective method: working through words like 'branch', 'trumpet', 'studying' and 'very many' is often a process of personal discovery for the student, and a practical validation of the alphabetic code instruction.
Any task that depends on both the student's personal pronunciation (which itself requires an accurate production of English pronunciation to be provided by the teacher) and the student's accurate recall of the code correspondence for that pronunciation, is going to produce a fair share of errors.
There is a world of difference between a 'retto retto bahkku' and a little red bag: if the student pronounces them as the same, accurate understanding and perception of the language cannot advance.

If the purpose and object of English language study is to gain competence in the language, these struggles are a necessary effort, and indeed writing by pronunciation compels the student to face that challenge directly. This may explain why almost every published EFL text provides tracing or copying exercises, instead of having students write independently into blank lined spaces.
When Taro writes 'sock' and says 'sox', or writes 'apple' and yet reads it as 'ahppuroo', it indicates he lacks a clear understanding of the alphabetic letters he is writing; they mean nothing to him as a phonic code.
This can explain why students can write 'It's big' and then read their own writing a moment later as 'They're bick', or read 'two subs under a ship' as 'two suns under a ship' five times over. This lost opportunity often results in misperceptions and errors in all four skill areas, encouraging guessing instead of providing clarity. In fact, the effort involved, and the materials required, to have students writing independently is not overwhelming. It is important that the vocabulary which students are asked to write independently on blank lined paper is selected from words they have used in meaningful spoken activities (i.e. This kind of beginning writing instruction needs to be included as a regular part of beginning English language lessons. This can explain why students can write 'It's big' and then read their own writing a moment later as 'They're bick', or read 'two subs under a ship' as 'two suns under a ship' five times over.A These students have not learned to perceive the phonic value of alphabetic letters, instead they have been taught to perceive (trace, copy,A memorize) whole words as single symbolic units. To tell you more about the box (tagged #MIZ11), I've decided to answer questions sent to me by Quarterly Co and Mizzfit readers. I have a chest full of fitness gear and equiptment in my apartment, and OMG, the things I found inside of it had me rolling on the ground. Yes, it's going through it's "boutique salon" stage right now, but people have been "floating" and even installing floating chambers in their homes for the last 20 years.
But seriously, it's hard to decide which one is my favorite prize because quite frankly, I own them all. We often take for granted the wonderful parks and historical sights within the region we live in.
A few years ago The New York Times reported that some women were studio-hopping, taking more than 1 class a day to get their fix.
It wasn't an overnight kind of relief, but the pain did completely go away about a day and half later.
I know youa€™ve probably heard of many fitness trackers already but this one is the tracker of all trackers. 8 years ago I left a career in corporate advertising to pursue my dream of reporting on health & fitness. Ita€™s risky business juggling a lot in your life, but for me personally, I live for the thrill! I reached out to Hourglass Angel (the most well-known waist training seller online) to see if I could try their products and, of course, come to my own conclusion.
Again, not complaining as worse things have happened in my life, but as all wavy and curly-haired girls know, learning how to style curls is freakin' hard! Louis at The Arch so that Special Olympics athletes from my hometown can train, compete and enjoy a lifetime of their own thrills. BUT, I'm never as exposed to the world of fashion and the mind-blowing creations debuting on runways as I am during NYFW. She presented her "Search Don't Rescue" collection, which really appealed to me because I'm a huge fan of monochromatic, flowy dresses and pairings. Graffiti Beasts leggings feature the art of real street artists whose art can be seen on the streets of Lisbon, Barcelona, Milan, New York City and many more cities across the world.
Michelle Austin, founder of the Fluidity Barre, was one of her students among others like Exhale founder Fred Devito, who I interviewed HERE. You will most likely discover parts of your body that you never knew were possible to work out or even move. They have a wayfarer style (which is so classic that they're always IN) and they're made with polarized, UV400 protection lenses. If you set a level of expectation, they will ALWAYS look forward to your gifts and rave about them in conversation. Let me guess, you know how to break a sweat but you also look forward to showing off how well you clean up and glow like a pro. Check it out because I go into detail about why these skincare products should be in your summer gym bag STAT!
This is the yearly event where yogis come together right smack in the middle of Times Square to celebrate the day the sun is at its highest position in the sky for the longest period of time.
The tracker itself is a black shiny oval shaped piece that clips into a metal slip-on bracelet. But what you're paying for is great technology, an app that doesn't baffle you but inspires you and a piece of jewelry that looks good with anything you wear.
A really astounding young lady and go-getter herself, Katya Meyers, created the interview series to share what happens behind the scenes in the lives of successful health & wellness oriented professionals. Spirit Junkie and the book A Return To Love by Marianne Williamson really helped open her mind and heart to all the amazing possibilities that can happen when someone chooses love over fear. If you know of a case that shoud be on this list, please add it to the comments section below with a direct link. It's a 5 day adventure and my sources are telling me that there will be 130 of the most famous Zumba instructors onboard including Beto Perez himself. I used to think of her as just my mom without fully worshipping everything she's accomplished. They're competing in the Volvo Ocean Race, which is considered to be the toughest sailing race in the world.
It's a long trip (9 months at sea!) and it's a tremendous challenge for these women, requiring massive teamwork and goal-setting. Of course, you have to train consistently, eat right and get plenty of sleep and hydration.
I teamed up with Chrissy's and my bestie, Michelle from YoGoGirls, to bring you these playful and sporty looks.
I'm 5'2" with muscular legs and I loved the way these Polka Dot Socks almost seemed to lengthen my legs. Aging lines, sun damage and sagging are major concerns of mine, and I'd like to do the most I can to prevent the visible aging process from coming on faster than it needs to. Because aluminum prevents our underarms from stinking by blocking sweat from escaping through our pores onto the surface of the skin.
A couple they hadn't seen before, like the cot and the rip, so I had to tell them what those were. Actually, the really surprising thing is that this wasn't surprising at all- this has been their closing activity of each class for the last four months. This is why the ability to discriminate and produce the sounds (phonemes) of the spoken language (phonemic awareness) is an essential first stage for every language student. Conversely, his perception and understanding of the spoken pronunciation will be delayed or even misled if he is deprived of a logical and gradual instruction of that alphabetic code. While this might appear to be penmanship, it's important to note that the letter names are not mentioned, because letter 'names' are both unnecessary and highly interfering with learning the direct sound-to-symbol correspondence of the code. Writing familiar spoken words like 'cup', 'bag', 'hen' and 'pot' correctly just from seeing images of those items and then speaking the words to himself, not only verifies to Taro that this code works, but he also discovers that he can use it himself.
Although this is more demanding, when Hanako does it successfully she gains a sense of personal confidence, because the encoding process exercises and validates her ability in all four skill areas.
Common words like elephant, pencil and fourteen do not need to be avoided (or their graphemes exposed prematurely) with this approach.
This gives the teacher a direct window on Taro's language perception, which can reveal his misperception and mispronunciation in a clear and helpful way.
Watching a student write 'It's sinnin', and then helping them discover through correcting their own pronunciation how to write the verb correctly 'It's singing' exposes their misperception and mispronunciation that has gone on unnoticed, and clearly reveals to themselves the correct pronunciation and structure of the spoken verb. Seven minutes of such writing as a concluding class activity brings all four skill areas together and allows each student to personally retain all the previous instruction in tangible form, in a way that speaking or reading activities on their own cannot. However, it would be a grave mistake to think that the mistakes that each student goes through in this effort are better left avoided. The necessity of clear enunciation required by independent writing on blank lined paper is actually valuable for learning. Copying, because it is usually accurate (although frequently it isn't), can give the appearance of understanding and competence.
This is a logical consequence of being taught whole words as a pattern of strokes to copy, just like many Japanese kanji. Staring at her text, Hanako reads aloud 'fost', and from hearing that spoken, you're not sure if she meant fast or first. Equipped with an understanding and lesson plan of the four stages of the alphabetic code, all that is really needed is your clear voice to model pronunciation, and blank lined paper. Conversely,A his perception and understanding of the spoken pronunciation will be delayed or even misled if he is deprived of a logical and gradual instruction of that alphabetic code. Writing familiar spoken words like 'cup', 'bag', 'hen' and 'pot' correctlyA just from seeing images of those items and then speaking the words to himself, not only verifies to Taro that this code works, but he also discovers that he can use it himself.

This is where some of the best musicians of all time rocked out and made a name for themselves.
As a vlogger, digital host and tv host, you could say I know a thing or two about producing video content. The category continues to evolve and expand beyond the fitness tracker we're all familiar with. The prizes I pick for each Booya Fitness challenge are based on my favorite products and gear that I've personally test out for you.
I only ate half the bun and the wonderful part about the meal is that the portions are JUST RIGHT.
I already have enough gadgets and gizmos in my life that if I'm going to add something to the mix, it better do something spectacular.
Let's just say I ended up falling in love with waist training, which is something I really didn't expect. I made some amazing stopsa€”this one was my favoritea€”and had a lot of time to think along the way.
You essentially have to ask yourself whata€™s next in my lifea€¦what road will I take and where do I hope it will lead me? As a fitness trend expert, I never limit myself to just fitness events because EVERYTHING is fusing together these days.
But yes, I have a FLAT approach to skincare that I want to share with you today that literally saves my life every time I travel.
Fact of my life: my toiletry bag + makeup bag + hair dryer and roundbrushes = most of the weight in my suitcase.

I'm honored to be a part of her series and my interview is LIVE and ready to be heard by clicking RIGHT HERE. My mom and I don't always agree on everything but she's been very supportive of my life choices and has taken great care of me throughout my life. It's going to be a fun springtime evening social, if you will, and a great chance to check out the evolution of LimeLight! Come join our healthy party with cocktails from SkinnyGirl and Juice Press, and wine sorbet from Frosae Wine Sorbae, which is basically FROZEN WINE! So I've put a little something together with a posh studio that's new to the area called Core3 Fitness.
Hopefully they'll inspire you to get creative with something as simple and inexpensive as a pair of socks. So, I did for a little bit but then over time I became empowered by how great my mid-30's felt. I can't perform magic tricks but I can wear Altchek MD's Daily Moisturizer made with SPF30, Ester C and Vitamin E.
The plus side is less sweat and stink but the downside is that antiperspirants prevent the human body from doing it's job, which is to rid itself of toxins.
There had been an occasional misspelling, which they had each corrected themselves after I'd coached them to produce a clearer pronunciation, as I'd just done with Kousuke and the 'leg'.
They are not copying words from the board (or a textbook), nor are they following spelling dictation; they are simply putting their own spoken words onto paper. As discussed in the previous article on reading, the English alphabetic code (letters) is simply a phonic code (although sometimes imprecise) for the sounds of spoken English. If Hanako can speak clearly with confidence and can control a pencil, she can (and should) also be writing.
This personal sense of success and ownership is the start of a lifetime of English literacy, and is extremely rewarding to offer and observe as a teacher.
Of course, he can also now be asked to read them in print form, now that they are fully within his code instruction, or 'decodable'.
Writing 'cyp' for cat, 'bik' for big, 'jag' for jug, 'sox' for sock, and 'tem' for ten are all clear indications of personal pronunciation errors that have gone unnoticed in spoken class activities, which can now be corrected with precision. In most cases, however, this appearance is misleading, and it would be dishonest to pretend otherwise. When the text includes katakana furigana in small print above the English being copied, the written English is almost overlooked and certainly not appreciated as a phonic encoding of a spoken language. With a set of images illustrating common nouns and verbs, students can begin putting their spoken language onto paper. It is also important that the words they are asked to write are within their alphabetic code instruction (i.e that they already know how toA decode the letters in those written words into sounds). But I have this problem where I carry around heavy shoulder bags and they end up giving me the worst pains that shoot up into my neck. It's drastically changing these industries with more advanced fabrics, lighter and more funtional parts, more accurate tracking and motion sensors, and overall cooler customization.
Whether it's my boyfriend coming over to cook with me, my mom visiting from Missouri or my best friend coming to spend the weekend with me to play in New York City, I literally ALWAYS have a meal in the fridge for 2 that only takes 30-45 minutes to whip up. And can you blame them for not caring when they know new members are taking them for joyride? Since I'm the healthy one in my familia, they count on me to contribute an interesting veggie concoction that wows their taste buds. I caught the flu somewhere between rushing to shows and shaking hands with and hugging everyone.
I've been to a few of their events, but this year's New York Fashion Week 2015 showcase was one of my favorites.
Fashion is going sporty on NYFW catwalks and tech is catering more than ever to wellness conscious users. Ia€™m doing it all in a 2015 Ford Explorer to celebrate Tri-State Forda€™s a€?Where To Now?a€? adventure and summer sweepstakes!
My products have to be effective, easy to apply, fast working and light (on my shoulder, not just my face!).
It's challenging, modern, music-oriented, and doesn't follow all the yoga rules you're used to. Most people won't even notice you're wearing a tracker because it looks like a fancy bangle. The lotus flower is now bold, proud and sharp looking, which I personally think translates better to fitness and sport. I learned a lot from them about Team SCA's voyage, race conditions and day to day life at sea during this gorgeous afternoon spent sailing on the Hudson River. I've been running long distances since highschool and to this day I'm still discovering new tricks for a smoother run. Going to the Big Island this past February was my 3rd time back to the wonderous state and I used a new online travel guide service called Localfu to navigate my way around like a local. Just as writing by pronunciation and internal alphabetic code understanding reinforces a clear perception of spoken language, writing by copying does not: in fact, it can actually reduce phonic awareness and delay language understanding. Staring at the written text 'Two dogs in a box', Taro vocalizes 'the dog's in the box', a clear indication that he's projecting his concepts onto the print, instead of drawing the author's message out by accurate decoding. The sense of discovery and understanding is instant, and the sense of satisfaction in personal success builds excitement and confidence. So naturally I'm excited when I find a cute bag that works for my lifestyle and doesn't weigh me down.
It's really amazing to see all the companies being born out of these kind of technological advancements.
It's been a whirlwind of a month but I'm finally back at Mizzfit headquarters blogging about all my exciting Fall adventures.
Ia€™ve worked really hard to get where I am, but if you had asked me years ago whether Ia€™d be in the drivera€™s seat of my own business and reporting on womena€™s health, Ia€™d think you were nuts. Most importantly they have to feel good on and revitalize my skin, whether Ia€™m running to a workout or freshening up right after one. It's simply amazing, so I was thrilled to see her join what has become a yogi cult favorite summer event. But when it comes to fitness--my area of expertise--there's no fooling me or anyone else for that matter. She told me to choose my deodorant wisely because many popular brands pose health risks, especially to women. It synthesizes the conviction that the Christian event, lived in communion, is the foundation of the authentic liberation of man.
In short, these students lack a healthy sense of the language that they are supposedly being taught.
Personal writing tasks bring together kinetic, aural, visual and spatial aspects of learning, and provide a physical record of accomplishment that many students thrive on.
I take a lot of criticism for being an outspoken Republican (I'm NOT anti-gay marriage or pro-life though), for wearing waist trainers and even for making a living off of social media. That being said, I was pretty excited to see which brands would be making their debut at TechStyleNYC! If you live on the West Coast, keep reading because I have details on an amazing fit event happening out there as well.

My aunt is no stranger to disease as a survivor of Melanoma tumors and having recently lost her beloved husband to Esophageal cancer, so I decided to take heed and do a little research of my own. Communion and Liberation is today present in about seventy countries throughout the world. He was eager to catch up with his classmates who were also busy writing, some of them already on the eighth item. Even if it doesn't (and if so, I'm jealous that you've mastered being a sane packer), I think this tip might come in handy.
Many thanks to Altchek MD for all the attention and for making my skin look so great at 36 years old. In the next seven minutes, each student had finished writing twenty neat sentences, naming twenty vocabulary items displayed on the board, by themselves, with no spelling or punctuation mistakes.
As I get older, I realize how important it is to poke around and get the inside scoop instead of just taking things at face value. People are always judging but that's OK, I enjoy the path less traveled if it sparks my curiosity.
Around the time I turned 12, my dad took me to get a "Mariah Carey" perm because I wanted Mariah's exact hair from her music video Someday. You'll eventually find yourself clicking on every square on his instagram profile much like I did. Ia€™m a sleeveless-outfit-kind-of-girl and my issue is finding a bra that makes the area where my underarm and side boob meet look shapely. So I've whipped out a larger magnifying glass (aka camera and corresponding film team) and started doing a lot more poking around than usual. Ita€™s frustrating when you work out as much as I do to maintain an athletic physique, to look in the mirror and spot a bulge protruding from under your arm!
I discovered there's a lot out there in the world of iPhone cases, and with a brand new iPhone 6 on my hands, I began to test. So I reached out to him to express my fandom and whadayaknow, he's the nicest guy on earth! The gathering attracted 4,000 volunteers and 700,000 participants.A The essence of the charism given to Communion and Liberation can be signaled by three factors. During the six years we had been living in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood, we had belonged to St. Thomas was the first parish that my husband and I joined as adults, and our three daughters (the twins had not been born yet) had been baptized there by Reverend Jack Farry. To my delight and amazement, Sarah and her assistant were offering Catechesis of the Good Shepherd! I promptly signed up my second daughter as well and began to spend the sessions in the back of the atrium, lurking. As Sarah and I became better friends, and as I began to fall in love with the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, Sarah told me that she also belonged to a lay ecclesial movement, called Communion and Liberation. I remember thinking that CL must be cool, since Sarah was also into CGS, and it was super cool, but aside from hearing about what it meant for her, I wasn't really very interested in it.
But when my husband told me that he needed something more, in order to live his faith more fully, I quickly recommended that he speak to Sarah and her husband about CL. Well, he fell in love right away, and started giving me Father Giussani's books to read and asking me to come to School of Community. I read the books, and found them very beautiful, if unoriginal (yes, I'm sorry, but my only criticism of Father Giussani was that he wasn't saying "anything new." Now, I think one of the greatest things about him is that he doesn't say "anything new"!).
But as for School of Community, I didn't want to give up an evening at home with my children so that I could meet with a bunch of adults to speak about Jesus -- my faith received such a powerful electric charge when I became a mother, and it seemed wrong not to include my children in every aspect of my spiritual journey. When we moved to Ohio three years ago, it was a time to make new friends, and I wanted to meet other people who were following Father Giussani.
Though I still thought that he wasn't saying "anything new," I was hungry for friends who were following the Church: the old, essential, not-at-all new Church.
Sometimes, among other Catholics, I feel so disoriented hearing about particular devotions or charisms that seem unfamiliar to me.
Father Giussani had the peculiar genius for cutting through all of the "extras" and going straight to the heart of Christianity -- he tirelessly proposed Jesus Christ (much as our current Pope, Benedict XVI does).
What is new about CL is not so much a particular theology, but a way of living out Christianity that is vital, vibrant, and vivifying. It involves being able to see our Lord, beloved and adored, in the bonds of friendship that exist between and among ordinary, sometimes uninspiring, Christians. What Father Giussani both proposed and also demonstrated in reality is that Christ is not only present as Bread and Wine in the Eucharist, he is also present in the unity that exists in his people -- the Body of Christ. When we gather together, we can meet him in the flesh. Some people wonder: why do you need anything in addition to parish life?
It is true that the Eucharist vivifies and enlivens any particular parish community, but what seems to be most difficult for us is to live with an awareness of what the sacraments mean.
Without an awareness of what our Baptism means, what our Confirmation means, what our participation in the Eucharist means, we sleepwalk through our lives, and miss so much!
God is reaching out toward us, wanting to meet us in all our present moments, but we easily get distracted. We need friends who live this awareness, who are willing to live this awareness along with us.Some people also wonder whether joining a movement narrows our involvement in the Church. The more I follow this one particular charism, the more universal my understanding of so many other aspects of the Church has become. In fact, being involved with CL has opened me up to the international dimension of the Church, as well as opening my heart to people in my immediate environment who are different from me. The law of the Incarnation always works this way -- Christ comes to me and shows me the whole, in all its universality, through particular circumstances.I would be remiss if I didn't mention Father Vincent. Even though my involvement with CL had become more consistent and serious when we moved to Ohio three years ago, it wasn't until the first Lent retreat we had here in my new town, led by Father Vincent, that I finally let my heart be fully engaged in CL. I pray for his work there, and that he may bring even more people into our beautiful friendship!

1989A The beginning and end of Christian morality I've been reading ahead in Is It Possible to Live This Way? After a long discussion on the true meaning of freedom, Father Giussani writes: "Freedom isn't choice, it's only a possibility to choose because it's imperfect" (p.
And then on the next page: Yet carrying out this correct choice demands a clear awareness of the relationship with Christ, of the relationship with destiny.
He's near Simon and He says to him, very softly, without the others realizing, He says quietly, 'Simon, do you love me more than these?' This is the culmination of Christian morality: the beginning and the end of Christian morality.
Man finds his dignity in the choice of what he values most in life and from which he expects the greatest satisfaction.
I have understood for a long time that freedom and morality are tightly bound in Father Giussani's thought. I have also grasped that his denunciation of moralism was never brought on by a disdain for morality. And the heart is not "what I like" or "what I want" -- it's the constant thirst for what I'm made for, my destiny, Christ. I can be seduced to imagine that something I want is my destiny -- if I lose sight of the ever-expanding horizon that calls me with an Infinite love. Moralism's answer, which says we have to suppress our desire, do violence to our desire, is useless, even mortally dangerous, to our souls. It is the solution of a lonely humanity, a humanity that has ceased to listen to the voice that calls each of us by name, a humanity without Christ. We need to hear Him ask us, "Do you love me?" We need to let that question burn into our hearts every minute of every hour, engage us, draw us through our days.
Because even those who are so blessed to have heard Jesus speak directly to them through metaphysical means, do not hear this question so perfectly and constantly that they can forgo the Eucharist or the people of God, who make up the Church. No, God has willed it that we must turn to one another -- there is no other way -- and remind each other that He asks, He continually asks, "Do you love me?"If you expect your satisfaction from something that can be dust tomorrow, you'll have dust.
Do I love them?A The meaning of tenderness Father Giussani and Enzo PiccininiDuring the summer of 2006, my family and I participated in the CL summer vacation for the Varese (Italy) community that took place in the Dolomites (San Martino di Castrozza). During those very rich days, we heard a talk given by a priest whose name escapes me and who was introduced as the spiritual director for Memores Domini in Italy (or something -- I don't speak Italian! In any case, the theme of his talk was "complaining" ("lamentare" -- which my Italian English teacher friend kept translating into my ear as "moaning" -- luckily I know British English and I know that this word is used as we would use "complaining" in America).
In any case, the very strong theme of his talk was that "lamentare" is a form of violence, the worst kind of violence -- an "ugly" violence ("brutto" means ugly, not "brutal," right?).
Memory - the greatest Christian word I know - that makes presentsomething that happened long ago. In his daughter [Emmanuel Mounier'sdaughter, Francoise with micro-encephalitis], in the circumstance thateveryone considered to be misfortune, a sign emerged that forced oneto think of the present Mystery of Christ. This is memory.
May this start to become normal among us, may it be asign that forces us to think of the Mystery of Christ as present! It is the demand for a humanexperience that can be considered such, because this is my life's mostabsolute necessity.b.
But it is not the complaints that break theheart of a suffering child, it is the complaints that burden the heartand ears of those listening, which render life difficult for thosearound us, and our life becomes a sentence also for others, a life-lament that does not know happiness, and even less, joy.c. But whoever sets up his life as lamentation does not know the grandthing that makes man great: tenderness. The man who complainsdoes not know tenderness, but vomits onto others what he has insidehim. It was like a sign pointing down a road that I refused to travel because I thought I already knew it and had already been on it.What was different about Father Vincent?
When the foreign thought entered my mind that day: "This is for me!", perhaps it was just that having moved to a new town so recently, I was less sure of myself, less comfortable with all the answers I was carrying around inside of me. What is so weird is that I've spent very little time with this priest, and he's kind of spotty about reading and responding to his emails.
I experience it in my daily life, mostly as a result of the profound and moving experience of School of Community this year, but most importantly in the new fraternity group that Marie and I have formed. First he placed a small standing crucifix on the table in front of us.1) He pointed to the crucifix and said, "We do SoC for him -- not for the movement, not because of the movement -- but because of him. It doesn't depend on anything or anyone else, so we have our freedom, and no one can limit us or our freedom to do it because I have all I need and you have all you need.
No, the only one who knows it and gives it as a gift is Christ [points again to the crucifix]. They come because of the charism, because of him [points again to the crucifix], so you should be grateful that he sends them to you, and you should care for them, and be surprised and amazed that they come." "This is the Victory that Conquers the World, Our Faith" "We come to the Fraternity Exercises in order to revisit the things we always tell each other. We meet all together because there is nothing, normally, that can help the emotion of the heart or the liveliness of perception of our mind, nothing capable of influence, like a tender, motherly, brotherly, friendly push on our will, more than our coming together." (Fr.
Giussani)The content of the Spiritual Exercises took our book of the School of Community, Is It Possible to Live this Way?
I have so many thoughts about the content, but I want to write about them after all my blogging friends have returned from the exercises, so that perhaps we can have a discussion about them. Meanwhile, though, there are three very important things that happened for me at these exercises:Many of our friends from the Chicago community were present at these particular exercises, and being face-to-face with them reminded me of my reasons for keeping myself apart from the movement during the years I lived there. I was particularly struck, thinking about what my life would have been if I had dived right into living the proposals of the movement while I was among these people who first introduced me to them. To be specific: it was the sin of pride: I already knew how Christ came to me, I already knew what Christ wanted of me, I already had a history of working out my Christianity on my own and I didn't want anyone to tell me that that history was limited and starved for oxygen because I knew it was beautiful, dammit! To use the CL way of characterizing this attitude, I was reducing the Mystery to my own measure, insisting on making the decisions about how and where and when Christ had something to say to me.
What is amazing to me is that I could come to these conclusions based on piety, how I was reading Fr. But what I was hung up on was the scandal of the appearance of the local Church -- that Christ could manifest himself in these particular people, with all their irritating and unpleasant humanity (sorry, my friends), was just too much for me to digest. How hard it is to understand this distinction until you've lived through the mistake of confusing them (and the consequences of this mistake -- which are loneliness and bitterness). Being among these people now, I see their beauty -- it is a profound beauty, one that makes me ask, "Who is this man who could cause such a miracle among these particular people?"What a different experience it was for me to go to the exercises with Marie, my fraternity sister! Last year, I went "alone" -- of course, I immediately hooked up with new friends when I went to Minnesota, and I never for a moment felt myself to be alone while I was there, but what I mean was that I did not go with anyone from my local community.
During these exercises, Marie and I discussed what we were hearing and witnessing, just as I did with the people I met in Minnesota last year, but I was able to express so much more with her -- the conversations went much deeper and were also much more concrete because we share a history already. There is also a whole new dimension to the content of the exercises for me -- because I know that in our fraternity group I will be wrestling with what Father Carron's lessons mean for Marie, as well as for myself. This brings out facets I never would have considered, and it enriches my life.As I tried to formulate a question for the assembly, and then, as I sought answers to my questions, I discovered that my biggest vulnerability or weakness has to do with an urge to organize or even strategize the Mystery.
What was particularly striking about this personal insight is that this is not the first time I've recognized this problem in myself and vowed to overcome it. Before joining the Fraternity, I never thought of myself as a control freak -- if anything, I felt "organizationally challenged" and desired a little more control and strategy in my life. But it is not my life that I seem compelled to organize and control, in any case (that's still something I contemplate on the level of "impossible dream") -- it's the way that Christ chooses to show himself to me in my surroundings and in the community he's given me. This topic probably requires its own blog post, so let's just leave it on the level of vague abstraction right now. Untiring Openness, Most Faithful Unity The above photo comes from the Communion and Liberation website and was taken during the March 24, 2007 audience with Pope Benedict XVI.
Many diverse things have been happening in my life, lately, but in response to all of them, this phrase, "Untiring Openness, Most Faithful Unity," keep popping into my thoughts. Father Carron, in a letter he wrote to everyone in the movement before the audience, mentioned these words and said that they came from something Fr.
I did a search, and didn't find the reference (maybe someone out there knows where this phrase comes from?), but I have been really moved (and corrected!) to consider what it means to be untiringly open and most faithful to unity.I especially appreciate the Italian word apertura, which means openness.
It reminds me of the fact that a photograph cannot come into being without allowing light to enter through the aperture.
Without this openness, beauty remains a fleeting thing that passes by me without ever moving me, and I have nothing to give, nothing to show, nothing even to say.
During the six years we had been living in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood, we had belonged to St. I remember thinking that CL must be cool, since Sarah was also into CGS, and it was super cool, but aside from hearing about what it meant for her, I wasn't really very interested in it. Word Among Us The Holy Rosary By Luigi Giussani.Sent by the Father- A A greeting at the close of a retreat of the Novices of the Memores Domini. If there were no moments of this kind, the Mystery could do anything, but in the end, we would reduce everything to the usual explanation.
But not even a Nobel Prize winner can stop himself from being dumbstruck before an absolutely gratuitous gesture.
If there were not these moments, we would find answers, explanations, and interpretations to avoid being struck by anything.
It is good that some things happen that we cannot dominate, then we have to take them seriously, and this is the great question of philosophy. If this were not the case, then we could dominate everything and be in peace, or at least without drama. Instead, not even the intelligence of a Nobel Prize winner could prevent him from coming face-to-face with a fact that made him dumbstruck -- instead of dominating, it was he who was dominated. It is the drama that unfolds between us and the Mystery, through certain facts, certain moments, in which the Mystery imposes itself with this evidence. These are facts that we cannot put in our pocket, which we cannot reduce to antecedent factors.
This blossoming will not bloom only at the end of time; it has already begun on the dawn of Easter. The Spirit of Jesus, the Word made flesh, becomes an experience possible for ordinary man, in His power to redeem the whole existence of each person and human history, in the radical change that He produces in the one who encounters Him, and, like John and Andrew, follows Him.
