Most people can eat the fat on a low carb diet and not have it stored in the body in unwanted places because the fat is burned for energy! If you can't stop the sugar and the white flour, then a low carb diet probably isn't for you. And, in order for a low carb diet to work, you have to let the food, which has some fat in it, have time to satiate you!
Christmas is just around the corner and there are some great gifts that you can give the low carber on your list.
Depending on your budget, add the best low carb cookbook I have found: The Low Carb Gourmet, by Karen Barnaby. Bob's Red Mill Almond Flour (print out the low carb brownie tag and attach it to the almond flour, remember to refrigerate this!

With the vast array of low carb cookie, cake, pie crust and quick bread mixes, you can make your low carb holiday baking a breeze.
If, on the other hand, baking from scratch is an integral part of your holiday spirit, find low carb versions of your favorite recipes, many of which substitute soy flour, whole wheat flour or even almond flour for all purpose flour. You can also lower the carb count by using your traditional recipes and substituting one-fourth to one-third of the all purpose flour with soy, whole wheat or almond flour. Another option is to look for flour-less desserts recipes (for example, flourless chocolate cake or chocolate torte) but make sure they are also lower in sugar.
For recipes that call for candy – like candy cane brownies or peanut butter cup cookies – use low carb or sugar-free candy. When recipes call for freshly whipped cream, omit the sugar – the dessert itself will be sweet enough – or replace it with an equivalent sugar substitute.
And don't forget, the best way to lower your carb intake is to enjoy modest portions – slow down and savor every bite and it will be more satisfying than quickly gobbling up a large serving. I’ve never tried a gluten-free recipe before and this looks like a good one to start with.

Hi Carolyn, first time commenter, long time reader…I have tried a lot of your recipes for myself but this is one of the first I have made for my family and they (3 out of 4) really enjoyed it, including my diabetic husband and my picky picky toddler. If you eat the bad carbs, the bad carbs are used for fuel and the fat is stored in all the unwanted places.
You should try the low fat diets because it is the combination of bad carbs and fat that lead to disease for most people. Or, even better, if you buy low carb pitas, which are full of fiber, then slap some peanut butter in a pita and just eat that. Reread some low carb books and devour this site to help remind you what the program actually says to do. Simply pick and choose from the highlighted exmples,  put them in a basket with tissue paper, add a nice low carb recipe gift tag that you can print from this low carb holiday labels file using heavy colored stock paper, and you have a lovely personalized gift! Or for a less expensive gift, you can take one theme or recipe and just add the products around that.
Or if you would like me to add another recipe to the gift tag file, please let me know which one! And when restricting carbs, the researchers insist that dieters be monitored by a physician, particularly if they have diabetes or high blood pressure.

Well, there are two ways to make low carb lasagna, one is a low carb cabbage lasagna version (great!) and the other is actually made with low carb lasagna noodles. They make low carb pasta noodles under the name Anthony's, Ravarino and Freschi, and Mueller's.
I'm still working on this recipe because I've never actually made sushi before, and the wrapping part is tough, but the taste is delicious!

It amazes me sometimes how simple things are, and just how many great low carb alternatives I have on hand. Even if you are following a low carb lifestyle, you can incorporate a few simple recipe modifications that will cut the carbs without sacrificing your sweet-tooth pleasure.


Though it is impossible to tastefully create a cookie, cake or other baked dessert with zero carbs, you can significantly reduce them with the following tips. Sugar provides the expected sweetness of desserts as well as leavening, color, and the moistness that makes cookies, cakes and quick breads melt in your mouth. Replace the graham cracker crust with a crushed low carb variety of cookie or substitute half of the crushed cookie with finely chopped nuts or almond flour.
Or, here's another one, get the new Stonyfield Farms yogurt and put a little Special K low carb cereal crushed up into it along with some fresh berries.
The only low carb lasagna noodles that I know of are made by American Italian Pasta Company, but their website is a mess.

We know that a diet high in saturated fat that is also high in carbohydrates increases heart disease. If you are looking for a truly delicious, low carb, gluten free coffee cake, this is your recipe.
My kids really prefer milk chocolate to dark chocolate, so I would just make two almond cakes, one to frost for them and one to make into bread pudding for the adults.
But whether low-carb dieters regain their weight and whether these individuals suffer any medical problems when they continue their diets beyond six months remain open questions. OK, they must be talking about the people who don't read the books on low carb dieting -- who don't know that they are supposed to eat vegetables, lots of green vegetables, spaghetti squash, cauliflower, etc.
