Phoebe, Rachel, Joey, and Ross arrive at the hospital, where Phoebe tells the nurse at the desk that she’s in labor. In Phoebe’s hospital room, Ross and Rachel enter with bad news: Phoebe’s doctor fell and hit her head in the shower, so she won’t make it to the birth.
Monica and Joey are sitting in the waiting room when Rachel enters and excitedly tells Monica that she got the two of them dates with a couple of male nurses.
Chandler runs into Monica out in the waiting room, and she starts to tell him about what happened with Rachel and the nurses.
Ross returns to Phoebe’s room with a new doctor, but she finds a problem with this one too: he’s a little young.
Rachel and Phoebe are alone in the delivery room, and Phoebe confides in Rachel that she wants to keep one of the triplets. Back in Joey’s room, the doctor tells him the kidney stones are too close to the bladder to attempt to break them up with shock waves so he has two options: wait until he passes them naturally, or have a procedure done which Joey finds a little too invasive for comfort.
In Phoebe’s room, a male nurse enters the room, and Rachel informs Monica that this is Dan, Monica’s date for Saturday night. Out in the waiting room, Frank is getting off the phone with Alice’s mom when Rachel approaches him.
A short while after all three of the triplets have been born, Chandler approaches Monica in a hallway to ask if she’s really going to go out with Dan. This is one of the few episodes to not feature Monica and Rachel's Apartment, Chandler and Joey's apartment, or Central Perk. When Phoebe's doctor requests the TV be turned on, the Happy Days theme is playing, and the doctor mentions it is the episode where Fonzie plays the bongos. Phoebe calls Doctor Oberman "Doogie" in reference to Doogie Howser, a teenage physician, due to how young Doctor Oberman appears.
When Phoebe tells Rachel she wants to keep one of the babies, Rachel's chair is right next to Phoebe's bed. When Phoebe says "I'm in the middle of the last favor you asked me to do" in this shot, her hands are on the top of her belly. At the beginning when Phoebe asks someone to call Frank and Alice, and her mom, Ross searches his pockets. In an outtake featured on this season's gag reel, Lisa Kudrow is shown improvising one of her first lines after the opening credits. The nurse asks which of the two men present is the father, but Phoebe tells her the father is her brother. Phoebe is upset, but Rachel assures her that the replacement doc is wonderful, and head of the department. Monica doesn’t want to go, but can’t think of an excuse to get out of it without revealing her secret relationship with Chandler.
He assures her he’s fully qualified to perform the delivery, but she doesn’t want to hear it and sends him away, so it’s back to Fonzie-obsessed Dr. Phoebe begs Rachel to talk to Frank, and feel him out about whether or not he might be willing to let Phoebe take one of the triplets. Monica tells Dan she’s really looking forward to their date, so Chandler steps up to interrogate him. She replies that since she and Chandler are just “goofing around” she figured why not “goof around” with Dan too. Then the camera angle changes to Phoebe, but you can see Rachel's arms, indicating that she didn't move.
Instead of speaking the eventual line, namely "That's easy for you to say, I don't see three kids coming out your vagina!", Kudrow jokingly replaces the final word with the word "dick", though this is bleeped out on the reel.
Monica and Chandler obviously made a romantic pit stop, but they try to cover their tracks by saying that Monica had to go back to the apartment because she forgot her jacket. He assures her that she is in good hands, and she is temporarily reassured until he, for no obvious reason, tells them on the way out that he loves Fonzie. Back in Phoebe’s room, Joey informs the others that Monica and Rachel were asked out by the nurses, which upsets Chandler. Joey comes in off the elevator, having just bought a few things in the gift shop, when he is hit with his third bout of pain.
Harad. Meanwhile, Joey is in a hospital room of his own, where a doctor informs him he is suffering from kidney stones. That seems like a lot, huh?” Frank laughs and says “Not to me.” Rachel considers her duty to “feel Frank out” done and leaves. Harad orders everyone except for Frank and the rest of the medical staff out of the room and tells the nurse to turn the TV on to Happy Days.
Chandler says that he doesn’t know if she’s ever looked up the term “goofing around” in the dictionary, but the technical definition is “two friends who care a lot about each other, and have amazing sex, and just want to spend more time together”. However, when the camera goes back to Rachel, her chair is a little far from the bed, so that she has to get up and walk to be next to Phoebe. Joey has another bout of “sympathy pains”, making Phoebe think he’s trying to steal her thunder. Harad confirms that he is indeed talking about Arthur Fonzarelli, the Happy Days character.
Dan answers that he’s just doing it to put himself through medical school, and it didn’t feel so girly during the Gulf War.
During the first two seasons of Happy Days the opening theme was "Rock Around the Clock" performed by Bill Haley & His Comets. It is also true that Phoebe started to either not believe or forget about her mother's words. Matthew 15 starting in verse 7-9 (Jesus was speaking to the Pharisees but it applies to all of us) ---- "You rejected what God said for the sake of your own rules.
He asks Phoebe if there’s anything she’d like to say to the triplets before it all starts, and she begs them not to hurt her.
He appears to have an unhealthily strong obsession with the character which seems to be making him "love drunk" and after he has left, Phoebe demands that Ross go find her a different doctor. Trying to save face, Chandler asks a female nurse out for Saturday night, and she turns him down immediately, adding to his embarrassment.
With help from Harad, who proves himself to despite his Fonz obsession be a highly competent doctor, Phoebe has three healthy babies, while with the help of his own doctor Joey has three healthy kidney stones. She tells them she wishes she could take them home and see them every day, but she will settle for being their favorite aunt, and the four of them cry together. Phoebe’s delivery comes with a surprise though: instead of two boys and a girl, she has given birth to two girls and a boy, so little baby Chandler is actually a girl.
Isaiah was right what he said about you: a€?These people show honor to me with words, but their hearts are far from me. The honor they show me is nothing but human rules.a€?Matthew 23 starting in verse 25a€”You are hypocrites! You wash the outside of your cups and dishes but inside they are full of things you got by cheating others and by pleasing only yourselves.Matthew 23 starting in verse 27 a€“ You are hypocrites!
Outside, those tombs look fine, but inside they are full of the bones of dead people and all kinds of unclean things.
They dona€™t go to Confession and that is the only way the Catholic Church says that their sins will be forgiven. They dona€™t go to the Stations of the Cross, they practice sex outside of marriage, they dona€™t say their rosary, and they dona€™t do anything that Catholics are supposed to do.
Just because at one time when they were a baby they were baptized Catholic and maybe went to Church when they were younger they consider themselves Catholic. What about the other 51 masses they missed that their church considers sins that they did not confess to a priest. The ones who actually practice their faith are good Christians and should be accepted by all other Christians as being in the body of Christ. Episcopalians, Lutherans, Bible Protestants, Methodists, and yes even inter-denominational people.
I work with someone who says he belongs to my church but he has not gone to it in a very long time.
What I am talking about are those who quickly throw out in conversation that they are practicing Christians and have not seen a church in years or months. People who profess that they are something when they are not practicing what they say they believe in. Is it that they dona€™t want their little world complicated by what they say they believe in? They may try to deceive you (Not many of us are deceived by this) but they cannot deceive God. Did they not understand the meaning of Evangelical in the name of the Church they attested to be members in? Get involved, help out, fellowship with other believers and most of all a€“ establish a relationship with the God and Savior that died for us on the cross. The body of Christ waits for you to re-join it and be a part of the salvation of God and Jesus Christ. I have to believe that the 300 Bishops that sorted out the different Gospels for Constantine did a good job within the Holy Spirit of God.
That Martin Luther and all that followed him that were editing and translating the Bible were being led by God and His Spirit along the way.
The Bible has lasted for thousands of years now and is fully accepted as Goda€™s word and instructions. If we remove or make light of any part of it, we cast a shadow on the rest of its validity. Back in the 70a€™s several faiths said that we do not have to believe in the Garden of Eden and the story of Adam and Eve. It was OK to believe in Evolution as long as you, at some point, accepted the fact that Goda€™s hand controlled it all.
Some passages in the Bible are referred to by some Pastors as taken from myths or stories at the time that they were written. Maybe thousands of years later we do not understand what the writers were describing or saying but that does not make it untrue. The Jewish leaders left everything in what we Christians call the Old Testament not because it might have been a myth or untruth.
The 300 Bishops of Constantinea€™s era and scholars like Martin Luther did not leave things in the New Testament because it might be the word of God. His breath sets coals ablaze, and flames dart from his mouth.a€? Some people believe this was an alligator.
1-2: When men began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were beautiful and they married any of them they chose. Genesis states that in the first day, God said, a€?Let there be light,a€? and there was light. Many people over the centuries have tried to explain them away in the context of human experiences and logic. I placed him on his knees next to his bed with his hands folded and I uttered some simple prayers while he listened. When we were children praying was simple but as we grew up most of us memorized long prayers to repeat to the Lord. Even the a€?Lorda€™s Prayera€? or as it is called a€?The Our Fathera€? was memorized out of scripture or a prayer book and repeated at bed time or in Church.
Praying is important as Christians but it does not need to be memorized, complicated, long, repeated, or burdensome. Tell Him how you feel about Him, what you want in life, the problems you have that you need help with, and confess your faults to Him.
Throughout the day and maybe the night include Him in your thoughts and have short conversations with Him. 5-8 (NAB): a€?When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, who love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on street corners so that others may see them.
But when you pray, go to your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. In praying, do not babble like the pagans, who think that they will be heard because of their many words.
5-7(NLT): But if you pray to God and seek the favor of the Almighty, an if you are pure and live with integrity, he will surely rise up and restore your happy home.
A nightmare of a storm just hit you and then the sun shines through the clouds and the winds subside.
We may have to experience many storm fronts until the mountain of our problem passes by and out to sea.
But no matter how big our storms may be or how powerful a hurricane is there is a power that is greater. He is bigger than all of our problems and he will hold your hand while youa€™re going through it and bring you out of darkness into the light.
Suddenly a violent storm came up on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. We are perishing!a€? He said to them, a€?Why are your terrified, O you of little faith?a€? Then he got up, rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was great calm.
The men were amazed and said, a€?What sort of man is this, whom even the winds and the sea obey?a€?Matthew 11, vs. Amen, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, a€?Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,a€™ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it shall be done for him.
Therefore I tell you, all that you ask for in prayer, believe that you will receive it and it shall be yours.a€?1 Corinthians, vs. One was telling the other all the bad things he had done in life and the bad things done to him. I said, a€?But God still loves you.a€? That small statement had a great impact on him and his friend reinforced my statement.
2 (This was the first census taken when Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 All returned to their own ancestral towns to register for this census. 4 And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, Davida€™s ancient home. She wrapped him snugly in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no lodging available for them. The Shepherds and AngelsA 8 That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep.
9 Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lorda€™s glory surrounded them.
11 The Saviora€”yes, the Messiah, the Lorda€”has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! Leta€™s see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.a€?A A 16 They hurried to the village and found Mary and Joseph. 17 After seeing him, the shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this child.
18 All who heard the shepherdsa€™ story were astonished, 19 but Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often.
20 The shepherds went back to their flocks, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen. He was righteous and devout and was eagerly waiting for the Messiah to come and rescue Israel.
The Holy Spirit was upon him 26 and had revealed to him that he would not die until he had seen the Lorda€™s Messiah. So when Mary and Joseph came to present the baby Jesus to the Lord as the law required, 28 Simeon was there.
34 Then Simeon blessed them, and he said to Mary, the babya€™s mother, a€?This child is destined to cause many in Israel to fall, but he will be a joy to many others. You see, before the crucifixion of Jesus, people had to offer a sacrifice of an animal for an offering to the Lord for their sins. Jesus who was residing in Heaven with and in God looked down on the people and made a conscience decision to take on a human form and go through life as we do and then die an agonizing death on the cross as a sin offering for all of us. His decision to do this was the ultimate sacrifice for sin and because of this offering we today just have to believe and accept Him as our Savior to have our sins forgiven. Since we are all sinners and have hurt God, He probably had to pick the most suffering form of execution on the face of the earth in order for the sacrifice to have the desired impact on our forgiveness. If you never have watched the Mel Gibson movie a€?The Passion of the Christa€?, it would be a good time to do so.
When we look on the image of the little baby Jesus laying in the Manger we seldom realize that He already knew how He was to suffer some 30+ years later. It is a time to celebrate our Saviors birth and the very start of His journey towards our redemption.
She was running to the store to get more supplies to bake Christmas cookies and we were getting our Tree. While we were picking the tree out, we heard the ambulance and police sirens but never realized that it was her in an accident. It was only by Goda€™s grace, a lot of love, medical treatment and counseling that we still have her here. My wife and I arrived a A? hour after it started and there was already an hour and a half wait. It was very very humbling for me as I reflected on who would come to my funeral and what kind of send off that I would receive. We should think of what we would want Jesus to say and think about us when we meet him in Heaven. Covey also asks, a€?What is just one thing right now that you can do to improve your self?a€? He then asks, a€?Why are you not doing it?a€? You may have wandered down the wrong road in life but there is still time to change routes.
Matthew 15 starting in verse 7-9 (Jesus was speaking to the Pharisees but it applies to all of us) ---- "You rejected what God said for the sake of your own rules.
