Jeff Haden learned much of what he knows about business and technology as he worked his way up in the manufacturing industry.
Each week, I look forward to Oprah’s sit down with esteemed spiritual leaders & authors who somehow have insight as to how we all can improve our lives, as they offer up words of wisdom we can all benefit from. In addition to finding your own ah-hah moments from O’s inspiring super soul conversations each week, you can also create abundance in your life by participating in Deepak Chopra’s 21 day free online meditation challenge. Deepak: The specific abundance meditation opens you up to what we call abundance consciousness.
Deepak: What you do in these meditations is you introduce the intention, then you let it go. Oprah: What’s going to happen to me, you, all of us, joining in this force of a 21 day abundance mediation challenge? Deepak: You will create a consciousness that will change the way you think, the way you feel, the way you behave, the way you socially interact, your personal relationships all will head in the direction of abundance consciousness. Luskin, dressed in khakis and docksiders, looks like he’s ready to sail down the Hudson, not lead a workshop.
Not moving on—hanging on to resentment and rage—is tantamount to having an existential tantrum, according to Luskin. No matter what the offense, he continues, the process of forgiveness is the same: You let go of anger and hurt by being mindful and focusing on gratitude and kindness.
Twenty-six years ago, when psychologist Robert Enright, PhD, first got interested in forgiveness, his colleagues thought he’d lost his mind.
The study Rosen volunteered for compared incest survivors who were offered forgiveness training with those who weren’t. Like Rosen, the other participants in Enright’s study made surprising emotional progress. Kathleen Lawler-Row, PhD, a psychology professor at East Carolina University, is one of several researchers exploring the relationship between forgiveness and health—physical, emotional, and spiritual. For the rest of the morning, Luskin takes those of us in the workshop through some basic mindfulness exercises. I’m reminded of my first sailing lesson, alone in a Sunfish while a friend called instructions from another boat. My answer, I tell him, is to keep my distance from my mother, talking to her maybe once or twice a year.
I sit back in my chair and consider—deeply, seriously, honestly—what that would mean: No more bitching about my mother. So that’s how Bud Welch, whose daughter, Julie, died in the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995, can honestly say he wishes Timothy McVeigh had not been put to death. Seems either no one is talking about louis daguerre at this moment on GOOGLE-PLUS or the GOOGLE-PLUS service is congested. Assume perfection is required. Trying to create a product that meets every conceivable customer need? Underestimate the money required. It’s easy to underestimate cost when you let hope creep into your calculations.
Stop acting silly. If you’re like me your favorite childhood stories involve something stupid you did. Adopt expectations. We are all influenced to some extent by what other people think about us.
Everything else he picks up from ghostwriting books for some of the smartest leaders he knows in business. Thankfully, though, there’s Oprah Winfrey’s ‘Super Soul Sundays’ airing on the OWN network, to help you get out of your funk & inspire you to make positive changes in your life. For those who take the time to tune in, Oprah’s mission is more than accomplished, “I wanted a place for people to go every Sunday to wake-up (to discussions) that are thought-provoking, eye-opening & inspiring.

He began this spiritual practice while a student in medical school to relieve stress & kick his pack a day smoking habit. It’s a progressive quieting of the mind until it reaches the source of the mind, which in spiritual tradition is called the soul or the spirit.
So let’s say you are feeling gratitude, it opens your heart & your spirit to the source of abundance which is the universe itself. Then you use mediation to transcend, get into the G-d space & then you let the universe handle the details. The reason people have all this plastic surgery is they’ve forgotten themselves & they are identifying themselves with their self image.
I now call them ah-hah moments but I realized oh, when my personality comes to fully align with the energy of my soul & I allow my soul to be the guide that is when I am the most powerful. When you are aware of intention, then you can choose whether you want to create with an energy of fear or love. A lean wolfhound of a man with a mop of bushy hair parted down the middle, Luskin holds a PhD in counseling and health psychology from Stanford University, where he is the cofounder and director of the Stanford Forgiveness Project. There’s no playbook for forgiveness, no manual for getting past betrayals, disappointments, and hurts. A dozen other women are with me, mostly therapists looking to broaden their skills, though a few of us have come for personal reasons. He has no laptop, no briefcase, no handouts or notes, not even a copy of his book, Forgive for Good. He slouches at the head of the table and talks in a low, patient voice, his hands occasionally smoothing his hair. For more than a year, Rosen met weekly with Suzanne Freedman, PhD, then a graduate student of Enright’s, now an associate professor of educational psychology at the University of Northern Iowa. Those who had gone through the forgiveness training felt less anxiety and depression, and more hope and higher self-esteem, than those who hadn’t.
Researchers are now using functional magnetic resonance imaging to see if the answer lies within the brain. She thinks the effects of forgiveness go beyond lowering blood pressure and improving sleep. But what if the person who hurt you in the past keeps hurting you over and over, in the present?
It explains how grieving mother Pearlie Burgess could stand up in a Syracuse, New York, courtroom last spring and forgive the man convicted of killing her daughter.
Before you give up, take a step back and decide whether additional effort is all that’s required to overcome roadblocks or hurdles.
The online mediation is about a week in, but no worries as once you register, you can access any of the missed days meditations. The effects of meditation on Deepak’s life were so profound, it became a cornerstone of his teachings. Here’s the real reason, once you do all that, you open the door to your spirit, the field of possibilities. So if you open yourself up to abundance consciousness then you create neural networks, connections between neurons that make you notice abundance, that make you feel grateful. It handles the details through insight, intuition, inspiration, creativity, gratitude, choice making. By turning inward instead of acting in the moment, into that space you can chose consciously .
My main motivation is a painful relationship with my mother, who has a history of erratic behavior and lashing out at me (and others).
Enright, who’s now a professor of educational psychology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, takes something of a philosophical approach to his subject. The goal of the meetings was to allow Rosen to relive her pain and experience her grief in a safe place; somewhere along the way, Rosen made an intellectual decision to forgive her father, who had committed suicide when she was 11.

A team at the University of Pisa in Italy asked people to imagine forgiving someone and then observed changes in cerebral blood flow, which signaled the parts of the brain that became more active. Through guided visualizations, we’re asked to picture someone we love and imagine our hearts opening. It’s about letting yourself feel the full spectrum of emotions—grief and anger and hurt, but also kindness and compassion.
But as we file out of the conference room, I decide on a first step—because I understand, now, that forgiveness requires a decision. Get to market and then start refining your products or services based on actual customer feedback. Just because you really want something to work out doesn’t mean it will magically cost less. It’s been a great way for me to start each day & I have already witnessed some of my own mini miracles. That make you open your consciousness to opportunity where other people see a problem, you might see an opportunity. Despite my many efforts at reconciliation, we’ve been estranged for most of my adult life. Grieving, after you have been wronged, means letting yourself feel the anger, hurt, and trauma in all its original pain—but not indefinitely. He sees forgiveness as a moral imperative first (turn the other cheek because it’s the right thing to do) and a practical matter second (and, oh yes, doing so will probably make your life better). Thinking of my mother with as much compassion as I can muster, but not necessarily getting any closer to her. Here’s the formula: intention, transcendence, detachment, let the universe handle the details.
I want to suggest that everyone watching this consider the possibility that you are a powerful, creative, compassionate, and loving spirit.
It can lower blood pressure and heart rate and reduce levels of depression, anxiety, and anger.
By creating this kind of neural map, researchers hope to learn more about how forgiveness works on both a physical and a psychological level. As I walk down Lexington Avenue in the glorious late-afternoon light, I take a deep breath and let it out slowly. People who forgive generally have more and better relationships with others, feel happier and more hopeful, and score higher on just about every measure of psychological well-being. So I went to Chicago and found where he was buried, and put a pebble on top of his headstone. I’ve followed it with another meaningful conversation Oprah had with best-selling author, Gary Zukav.
So what we are really doing is rewiring the brain in this meditation to open ourselves up to this state of being where we live in an abundance consciousness not scarcity consciousness. If you’re scared & living in scarcity consciousness then it will be a self fulfilling prophecy. It is to allow us to learn through our own experiences, how powerful we are as creators & how we are responsible for what we create.
