The regular summer jobs program consists of working 25 hours a week for 8 weeks at a public sector job, such as being a camp counselor or tending a community garden. Launched in March 2014, Pathways to Progress is comprised of four core program paths: entrepreneurship training, civic engagement opportunities, mentorship, and summertime employment, that seek to help urban young people, ages 16-24, increase their employability in an environment of high joblessness within this age group.

Through Summer Jobs Connect, the Citi Foundation, with the Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund, is setting young people on the path to economic success through summer jobs in Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and San Francisco.
