Chief Murray Rodd and Deputy Chief Tim Farquharson kept their jobs when the regional force was re-organized into a city department. Details of the contracts have not been made public, but the mayor said the termination clause was likely added in case the force was taken over by the Ontario Provincial Police. Police officers were all sworn in again under the new name, Peterborough Police, funded by the city.
Peterborough Police Chief Murray Rodd, right, and Deputy Police Chief Tim Farquharson, seen here at an arbitration hearing in May, have reportedly received termination payouts totalling as much as $400,000 even though they never lost their jobs.

Police Chief Murray Rodd confirmed the ruling to CHEX-TV on Monday - although no figures were released - after refusing comment to The Peterborough Examiner late last week. They are seeking compensation because their jobs were terminated when Peterborough ended its police partnership with the village of Lakefield. There's likely a termination clause in Rodd and Farquharson's contracts, agreed to by past police boards, and they want compensation for having technically lost their jobs, however briefly. Since 2010, Bell's Nordia has opened or acquired eight call centres in across Canada, including the Peterborough centre.

31, the Peterborough-Lakefield force was dissolved and immediately replaced by a city-only force.
