Grace Hopper Academy, a female-only coding school, is now accepting applicants for its first class, set to kick off in January. Teachers at two of New York City's most troubled high schools will have to reapply for their jobs if they want to keep them.
City officials announced Friday that all of the teachers at Boys and Girls High School and Automotive High School will have to reapply and sit for interviews if they want to keep working there.


Mayor de Blasio unveiled a new plan to turn around some of the city's worst performing schools. The move comes after the city Department of Education reached an agreement with the teachers' and principals' unions on the plan for the two schools. In January 2016, Fullstack Academy will open a second school, the Grace Hopper Academy, focused exclusively on women.


It accuses the Department of Education and school officials of routinely violating the rights of special needs students by not providing the services they need.
