April 1, 2015NEW YORK - Online job listings show a mixed outlook for college graduates in New York, according to a new report. The study by the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce used online job ads to check the health of college labor markets around the nation.
In New York, the report found, 61 percent of jobs advertised online required a college degree. Researchers found that New York lags behind most states when it comes to jobs in health-care services - a major employer nationwide - and falls in the middle for sales and finance jobs.
After the closing date in August, a release from your current principal is required for transfer, unless you have been placed in excess. The goal, organizers said, is to link students with local businesses and retain young people after they graduate. Previous installments looked at New York’s farming boom, whether the tax cap is working and how colleges are improving the upstate economy.
Lead author and center director Tony Carnevale said the number of jobs posted online has grown by about 2 million since the economic recession, but he said employers today prefer candidates with specialized degrees.

The state ranked 22nd in the nation for its college labor market - ahead of South Carolina and Rhode Island, but behind Massachusetts, Delaware and Washington.
But Carnevale said prospects are strong for college grads with degrees in engineering and science. Massachusetts had the top-ranked job market for college grads, and West Virginia ranked at the bottom.
