My own life’s work as an artist is an expression of energy, creating my response to what I feel is needed for harmony between my consciousness and the cosmos. Visionary art is this pursuit of harmony, in courageous creativity for the sake of oneself and all, in mutual enrichment- imaging the permaculture of the world spirit, the path for a permanently aligned culture where all beings may be happy- eyes and heart ablaze. This isn’t for a static equilibrium, but dynamically to a higher balance, where new conscious patterns will unfold for us to perceive and live into being. The evolutionary shift of the human species and biosphere is into an aeon of living in networked awareness. This emergence of the collective egalitarian mind requires the wild uniqueness of each part, the precious distinctiveness of its perspective and functioning. A healthy whole needs not only harmony, but also diversity and a free flow of information.

As you view the art above and read the art review below by Integral Life Aesthetics Editor Michael Schwartz, take notice of four primary lenses made available by integral aesthetics: the subjective/intentional space of the artist himself; the materials, medium, form and structure of the art work itself; the historical, economic and social structure in which the art work is created; and the cultural, linguistic and intersubjective values space in which the artist works and/or seeks to express.

Adam Scott Miller is a visionary artist extraordinaire. His work explores and discloses with love and wonder, the infinite creative flows of subtle realms of light and life. His art, as he says, “evokes transpersonal, Integral, cosmic consciousness” as the “movement of human evolution is from the ego-bound to the transpersonal form, that transcends and includes all states and stages it has held before.” i
“We are literally swimming in a sea of vibratory information” such that a kind of “spirit semiotics, the appearance and behavior of, these planes of energy … became sufficiently clear to me to articulately recreate through … my own visionary art.” Miller’s work is both exemplary in its motivation of soulful service and in its clarity and intensity of showing the not always recognized ways of transpersonal being.
One way we can enter initially into these works is through our attention on the Brightness and Glory of color and light -- the work’s Look. Going deeper, we can complement that initial entry through the Feel of the energies evoked and encoded by that Look. Looking and Feeling, Feeling and Looking, back and forth -- patiently moving into the singularity of each scintillating work of art.
And then too, via Look and Feel, we can come to attune to more detailed components – the specific patterning of color; the rhythmics of the energies; the stunning thematic content; the complexity of perspective-taking encoded as pictorial space and figurative order – allowing these components to weave and flesh out the Look and the Feel of the whole.
Miller’s artistic recreations of spirit’ semiotics bless those who engage them with such care, in the end one coming to surrender to their transmission in the ways of Visionary-Integral Life.
