WINTER GUIDES
PESCARA
Italy
TOUCHDOWN
Pescara’s biggest draw is its
16km stretch of sandy beaches
along the Adriatic, although
you’d be wise to wrap up warm
if you decide to walk astride the
long promenade,
Viale della
Riviera
,
at this time of year. And
in the heart of the city lies
Piazza
della Rinascita
, an expansive,
palm-tree lined square. Apart
from being a great location for a
morning cappuccino and
cornetto
(Italian-style croissant), it’s also
an ideal spot to watch Abruzzans
go about their daily business.
GETOUT
Keen to find out some of the
history of this beautiful region?
Thenmake a bee-line for the
Museo delleGenti d’Abruzzo.
This charming littlemuseum tells
the story of rural Abruzzo through
a number of traditional objects,
including shepherd’s caves,
carnival masks, authentic local
costume andmore.Much of the
information is in Italian, so pick up
an audio guide at the entrance for
details in English.

biscuit, or some sausage and
sauerkraut. Then stroll past the
dozens of stalls selling local-made
Christmas gifts – decorations,
jewellery, scarfs, hats andmore.
Themarkets run until 11 January.
