The largest of all events organized in Wolsztyn
Locomotive Depot is the unique Locomotive Parade which
attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world.
On this day additional trains operate on the routes from
Pozna
n´
and Wrocław and carry tourists arriving for the
event to Wolsztyn. For a few years now special trains
have also come here from Berlin and Cottbus, and most
recently also from Dresden; these are pulled by German
locomotives and bring here thousands of enthusiasts of
old choo-choo trains from the other bank of the Oder
river. In recent years the event has been expanded to
include an evening show entitled “Light, Sound, Steam”.
Malta Festival

Poznan´
This is one of the most important performance art
festivals in Poland and Europe. The theatre festival
has been regularly held in the capital of Wielkopolska
since 1991. The name of the event makes a reference
to Malta
n´
skie Lake located within the city limits. Malta
Festival was launched to provide space for showcasing
independent, fringe and experimental theatres. In time
the formula of the Festival was expanded to include
other types of art. Today during Malta you can see
performances of pop musicians, dance theatre groups,
and circus-style artists; there are also films screenings,
lectures, and theatre workshops open for the public.
Gliders’ Picnic Leszno. Spread Your Wings

Each year the event attracts thousands of participants,
mainly families with children. During the gliding picnic
guests can enjoy numerous attractions: aerobatics,
parachuting shows, and presentations of flight gear;
they can also take trips in gliders, airplanes and
balloons. The program also includes concerts of pop
stars, competitions and arts workshops for kids. A unique
attraction, impossible to find elsewhere, is the option to
take a gliding flight after sunset.

th Piast Gathering

“
Kalisz in Piast Style” is an open-air event making
reference to the history of the early medieval stronghold
on the river Prosna. The Fortified Piast Settlement in Kalisz
is visited by living history groups from all over Poland
which in an interesting way present dramatized historical
scenes. On this occasion one can encounter knights
and their maids strolling around the settlement. Various
medieval craftsmen, dwelling in the cottages, present
their goods and conduct workshops for visitors. Children
can make clay pots or write a letter with a quill. The brave
ones may try their hand in swordsmanship, or participate
in dance, weaving or blacksmithing workshops.
