Movie magic
The
Warsaw Film Festival
(12-21
October) is a highlight every autumn.
For a list of films showing, visit wff.pl.
If it’s cloudy weather, grab a dose
of sunshine at the city’s newest and
hippest ice-cream parlour –
Lody
Na Patyku
at Lipowa 7a. Their
Prosecco on tap is an almost equal
draw for some! For all the Communist
architecture and contemporary
skyscrapers, Warsaw is Poland’s
greenest city. Walk out of the
bustling commercial centre to the
Lazienki Park
,
home to the elegant,
17
th-century Palace on the Water.
Eating and drinking
Gourmet burgers are the newest
trend, such as
Lokal Bistro
(
along
the Royal Route to ul. Krakowskie
Przedmiescie 64).
My’o’My
at
Szpitalna 8 fills its bagel burgers with
healthy and often vegetarian-friendly
ingredients. It is worth a visit for
its cottage chic interior, plus boozy
and non-alcoholic cocktails. Head
to
Przekaski Zakaski
at Krakowskie
Przedmiescie 13, the cult Communist-
style bar, for 24-hour vodka.
Getting to the centre
We provide three types of transfers;
a low-cost bus between the airport
and centre for €8 (€16 return); a train
transfer from Modlin station to any
of the Warsaw stations, for €5 (€10
return); and unlimited regional train
travel between Modlin train station
and any stations in the Mazovia region
for 24 hours after the arrival and
before the departure of the flight,
for €6 (€12 return).

Jazz and classical
The
Wrocław Opera and
Philharmonic
kick off their new
seasons with grand performances
and premieres, but if laid-back
music is your thing don’t miss the
Jazztopad Festival
(
jazztopad.pl).
The city’s already buzzing about
the closing concert – octogenarian
free jazz legend
Ornette Coleman
on 25 November. Wrocław is no
slacker when it comes to Poland’s
flourishing art scene, as you’ll see at
the
Contemporary Museum
at pl.
Strzegomski 2a (muzeumwspolczesne.
pl) or at the
WRO Art Centre
at
ul. Widok 7 (wrocenter.pl). Fancy
some exercise? The
bicycle rental
programme
is it’s one of the most
convenient ways to get around the
compact historical centre. You can
register at nextbike.net/pl.

Eating and drinking
Wrocław offers a huge variety of
dining options, but experiencing a
proper rustic Polish feast should be
the culinary cornerstone of any stay
in the city.
Godspoda Wroclawska
,
right in the Market Square’s Cloth
Hall, will take you back in time
with home-style dumplings and
sausages just like grandma used
to make (gospodawroclawska.pl).
For a budget-friendly lunch, try
Nalesnikarnia Paryska
at ul. Wielka
59 (
nalesnikarniaparyska.pl), which
does sweet and savoury crepes.
Getting to the centre
Get the no. 406 bus which leaves
every 20 minutes, and takes that
amount of time to get to the Central
Railway station. It is 2 złoty (€0.50).
