FRANCIS BACON AND BOHUMIL
HRABAL AT THE GATE GALLERY UNTIL

It’s rare to see works from two of the
world’s greatest in one place. The highly
acclaimed writings of Brno-born Bohumil
Hrabal are presented alongside the
mesmerising paintings of Dublin-born
painter Francis Bacon (pictured here in
1960) at the Gate Gallery. Over 30 of
Bacon’s iconic paintings will be on display,
giving the visual ‘wow’ factor to this
celebration of the Czech writer ’s work.
Both artists lived and died within the 20th
Century, and each were preoccupied with
beauty and suffering. After the exhibition
you might seek out Hrabal’s favourite pub,
U Zlatého Tygra (At the Golden Tiger) on
Ul. Husova in Prague. You’ ll find the Gate
at Ul. Husova 19-21.
