villagers, localsparaded theogoh-
ogoh through thestreets, spinning it
wildlyateverycrossing in thehopeof
confusing itso that itcouldnotreturn.
Towards the frontof theprocession, a
gamelan troupe incessantlyplayed its
brasspercussions; in theback, village
womensangBalinesehymns.
Thenightendedwith theogoh-ogoh
inflames—allevildeedswereerased.
