GOOD NEWS FOR OFWS!
Did you know that
every year over
1.5 million Overseas Filipino
Workers (OFWs) send money
back to their families in the
Philippines? And despite
growth in total remittances,
OFWs and their families
aren’t fully enjoying their
hard-earned income due
to the high cost of sending
money abroad.
The World Bank reported
that the global average cost
for making remittances in
the first quarter of 2013 was
9.05% — that’s a transfer
cost of PHP1,810 for every
PHP20,000, which includes
currency conversion margins
and processing fees or
“back-end charges” that are
shouldered by the receiver.
Xpress Money is an
international money transfer
service that processes
remittances from most
countries around the world
without back-end charges,
saving OFWs and their
families at least PHP125 per
transaction. Not only does
this increase their purchasing
power — they’re able to save
and invest more for their
future.
