Mitch Miguel
They say photography helps us see the
world in a new light. Mitch took this adage
to heart by photographing with a different
form of light — that’s IR or infra-red, a form
of illumination that is invisible to the naked
eye. Using a special filter on his tripod-
mounted DSLR, this veteran PhotoTrekker
captured our Balinese homestay in eerie,
unreal tones. A very slow exposure time
resulted in some creative blurring on the
windswept leaves.
Neil Canlas
The Barong dance
performance was held at
night, but thankfully there was
enough illumination onstage
for this shutterbug to work with.
With a telephoto lens mounted
on his DSLR, Neil increased
the camera ISO setting so that
he can use a fast, action-
freezing shutter speed. Next,
he zoomed in tightly on the
mythical creature to emphasize
its intricate features. Lastly,
the colors were removed and
the warm tone was added by
digital post-processing.
