A NICE ENDING
I like to end a challenging day on a good
note: local barbecue,
samgyeopsal
(
a very
popular evening dish), paired with the
equally beloved
soju
or Korean liquor.
BUSAN, SEA
AND SKY
Haeundae Beach is Korea’s
answer to Boracay — hordes
of visitors from Seoul, Daegu
and other parts of South Korea
converge at this beach district
to soak up the summertime sun.
Love the nightlife? Party till the
sun comes up at Seomyeon.
FASHION STARS
Nampo-dong Street is lined with shops that
carry both local and international brands
(
there’s also an alley dedicated entirely to
second-hand items). I also like the Lotte
Premium Outlets, especially the one in
Gimhae
—
where you can find affordable
designer goods
—
and Shinsegae in
Centum City, the biggest department store
in the world.
JAVA GOOD DAY?
Korea’s thriving coffee obsession and café culture make it easy to have a quick caffeine fix
—
in Busan, one of my favorites is a coffee and dessert café called A Twosome Place (
32-1
Gwangbok-dong, Jung-gu; tel: +82 51 246 2388;
.
EXCELLENT
TRAINING
Busan’s subway system — with
handy labels in Korean, English
and Chinese — makes it very
easy to get around town. Maps
are available in all stations.
