AFTER 10 YEARS
in show business, singer
and actor Christian Bautista reveals the two
things he’s most proud of. “It’s simple: being
born Filipino, and being given the chance
to spread our country’s music, values and
culture to our neighbors.”
By “neighbors”, Christian means the
many Asian cities he’s already visited and
performed in. His top travel tips? “I am an
explorer and I pack light: I have my wallet,
cellphone, passport, an empty bag for
pasalubong (
souvenirs)
,
and an open heart
to enjoy what lies before me,” he says. “I
immediately try the local food — it’s the
quickest way to have a sense of what’s to
come during the trip. Next, I look for both the
tourist spots and the locals’ hidden spots.”
Here’s what he’s learned so far.
Spending some downtime in Tanah Lot, Bali.

GO THE
DISTANCE
The farthest I’ve been to in
the Philippines is Tawi-Tawi,
which is in the southernmost
part of the country. I shot
a music video there for
the theme song of their
province. We went to exotic
locations in and around the
island; it was very exciting.
Outside the Philippines, the
farthest I’ve traveled to is
Canada for a concert tour.
My dream holiday would be
South Africa.

YOU CAN HAVE IT ALL
In Cebu, it is the beaches, hills, city life, food
and hospitality that attract Filipinos and tourists
alike. It also has a rich history. The beaches are
extraordinary, especially if you make your way to
Bantayan Island.
