Never before has
Smile ,
s cover shoot
itinerary been as
packed as on our
latest trip to Davao
City. In two days, we
managed to check out
the old city center,
trawl two new big
malls (squeezing in
a preview meal at a
soon-to-open Italian
restaurant), crash the
relaunch of a popular
local nightspot,
sample some durian
(
well in season, they
were
everywhere
),
scour the Malagos
Garden Resort and
watch an amazing
bird show, taste
fresh local seafood
and meat from
local farms, go for
a quick swim off Samal Island and watch the sun set on the city that
doesn , t seem to run out of things you can do. Yet the vibe in Davao
is always laid-back, the mood upbeat, and the hours unhurried. It
gives you time to think, “I could live here...”
