Vency Manalo
En route to Jatiluwih, the PhotoTrekkers
made a quick stopover to photograph
some farmers at work. Vency got off the
bus and immediately spotted this lone
woman walking by the roadside. The
morning light was perfect, illuminating
both subject and background in
warm, dramatic hues. The doctor-
photographer waited a bit for the scene
to unfold, then fired off a few exposures
just as the lady walked by.

Miles Dedace
An old lady carries baskets home in the
village of Penglipuran. This typically
Balinese scene suddenly greeted Miles
as she explored the streets of this
traditional community. With little time
to react, she set her zoom lens to its
widest focal length and then quickly
snapped using a classic composition
technique — using leading lines to
draw attention to the subject.
