WHEN YOU MENTION
the word ‘travel’, the first
word that comes to mind is
excitement’,” says Tony
Bueno, DJ and host of
popular radio talk show
Boys’ Night Out.
He should
know: born in Toronto,
Canada, Tony took his
biggest risk” when he
moved to the Philippines.
I decided to pack my bags
and leave its four seasons
for the country’s tropical
climate,” he explains. He
has been taking more risks
since — and learned a lot
of lessons from his travel
experiences along the way.

BE PREPARED, YOU NEVER KNOW
WHAT WILL HAPPEN
I was one of four people nominated as ambassador for Axe Anarchy Deodorant
in 2012, and they sent me to Belize in Central America for a junket. My luggage
went missing on a one-night stopover in Miami. So when I stopped over in
Japan, Dallas and Miami, I was still in the same clothes. I had only packed
shorts, a couple of shirts and a sweater, but no underwear. Carry extra in your
hand-carry or backpack.

BE PRACTICAL AND
SAVE IF YOU CAN
Buy a local SIM and don’t forget to turn off your
data services — or else face a huge telephone
bill. Go to hotels with free WiFi so you can use
BlackBerry Messenger, WeChat and Facebook
to message friends and family. I was traveling
to Canada for the Christmas holidays and forgot
to turn off my data services. I paid the price.
