By far, Thailand’s most enduring
symbols are its gilded
wats
ornate
temples that proudly display this
country’s devotion to Buddhism. Not
surprisingly, these fascinating shrines
figured prominently on our shoot list.
In Samut Songkhram we visited small,
centuries-old temples along the Mae
Klong River. Bangkok, on the other
hand, showed us grander structures
like the imposing Wat Saket — home
to a huge, glistening sacred stupa —
and the sprawling Wat Pho with its
huge, 46-meter long statue of the
Reclining Buddha. Shooting tirelessly,
the PhotoTrekkers captured all these, in
homage to Thailand’s spiritual side.
Thais have a penchant for
artistry which you can see
from the simple styling of
street food to the intricacy
of
benjarong
ceramics
