Our guide:
Jet Teves Manalo
Growing up, Jet spent all her summer
breaks in Dumaguete. These days, she
pops back in almost every month and
is up-to-date with what goes on in the
City of Gentle People. Here’s what she
suggests for a weekend getaway.
1
Touchdown on a Friday and
check-in at Honeycomb Tourist
Inn in Dumaguete City (www.
honeycombtouristinn.com).
2
Take a tricycle to the nearby
highlights: Silliman University on
Hibbard Avenue (the country’s first
university set up by Americans) and
the Dumaguete Belfry beside the
G U I D E T O F U N I N T H E P H I L I P P I N E S
Dumaguete Cathedral (said to be the
oldest stone church in Negros) along
Perdices Street, fronting Quezon Park.

at Lab-as Seafood Restaurant and
Hayahay Treehouse Bar and Viewdeck

some breakfast and nature-tripping.
