seriously thought of Bogart (pronounced
as ‘boogart’). We then thought of
Explorer’ from Dora and ‘from Davao
City’ because I’m from Davao and damn
proud of it.”
He describes Bogart as spontaneous.
We don’t really plan an episode; we
shoot when we feel like it. Topics come
from whatever we see in the streets,
whatever we find funny or amusing or
irritating. These are facts of life repackaged
and delivered in a humorous manner,
some with social relevance meant to open
people’s eyes and minds.”
What’s next for Marco? “Expect Bogart to
bring more episodes.” But first he attempts

IF THE NAME
Marco Ho doesn’t
ring a bell, the YouTube
character “Bogart the Explorer from
Davao City” might. A parody of Steve
Irwin and Dora the Explorer, the khaki-clad
Bogart travels around the country and
tackles social, everyday issues with humor.
Bogart started as a goof. I was working
as a production assistant for
The Front
Act Show
,
which also had a radio show
to go along with it. I called one time and
pretended to be an Aussie. Towards the
end of the conversation, I asked if I could
greet my friends in the Philippines. I said,
Maayong gabii diay sa mga gapaminaw
nga Dabawenyo
…’
They were rolling on the
floor, laughing,” he recalls.
The producer asked if I could do a
Steve Irwin accent for a segment he had in
mind. I tried to come up with the funniest
