Shoot to thrill
Don’t forget your cameras. There’s so much
in Ubud that you’ll want to capture. A common
regret among guests is that they would like to spend
more time at the resort, but have made travel plans
they can’t cancel. So set aside plenty of time to see
Ubud, it’s well worth it.

Best times
to visit
March and April are ideal
because the rainy season
is just ending and there’s
some sun. Ubud can be
enjoyable year-round but I’d
avoid July and August, when it’s
really hot.

Meet the locals
Naughty Nuri is a popular
and affordable eatery and
café where foreigners can
easily mingle with locals.
Balinese go there to
chitchat, fill up on
pork ribs and sip on
excellent martinis.

Get
healed
In Bali, we believe
people can be healed
with a mantra or
special touch by a
healer. Some guests
meet with a healer if they
have a personal or health
problem. If you’re interested,
go for it.

Relaxing ritual
The resort is the perfect place to relax,
as we’ve got five hectares of lush garden
and rice paddies, it’s impossible to not feel
peaceful when you’re here. To rejuvenate,
I’d recommend the Chedi Ritual, which is
a different treatment each day at our spa
overlooking the rice paddies.

Shop for art
Paintings by local artists
would make a good gift, as
well as woodcarvings, such as
traditional wind chimes and
bells. Ubud Centre and the
traditional Art Market are great
areas to shop. There are a lot
of shops around Monkey Forest
Road and Ubud Street as well.

the cultural center of Bali

Art of the city
Most of the country’s famous artists
were born in Ubud. They get their
inspiration from the calm and peace
in this area, and from the Balinese
culture that has been well
preserved in Ubud.
3
Soak in the culture
The Kecak dance show and royal
Balinese dinner are must-dos when in
the resort. Outside the resort, I would
suggest a half-day countryside
tour of the nearby elephant
caves, rice terraces, lake and
holy springs, with lunch
at one of the restaurants
surrounding the volcano.

Pig out on
Bali
,
s specials
Bali is famous for suckling pig,
and the best place to try it is at
Ibu Oka — a small eatery in Ubud
Centre. Also, don’t miss the crispy
duck specialty at Dirty Duck Restaurant.

For day-trippers
If you’re willing to put in a full day, I’d
recommend visiting Besakih — a site with
more than 100 shrines.
