METAL MANIA
No Rome
Dance with Me”
No Rome is “the dance-pop project of
teenage wonder Rome Gomez”, a new
act on the scene, and if this first offering is
any indication, he has an illustrious career
ahead of him. “Dance with Me” is like a
forgotten favorite tune — if you grew up in
the ‘80s, this will give you flashbacks to
days of video visions and neon dreaming.
SINGLES TO DOWNLOAD
Outerhope
No End in Sight”
Hands down one of the best musical
releases of last year, Outerhope’s EP
No
End in Sight
has this for a title track, and
it’s not hard to see why. From the bright
guitar-and-synth interplay of the intro,
to the brother-sister duo’s intertwined
vocals, to a tune that will win your heart
and stick in your head, it’s an excellent
demonstration of what makes the EP —
and the band — something wonderful.
Techy Romantics
Electricity”
Because it sounds exactly like their band
name implies. Because it is one of the best
songs by an act that has made its name
with an enormously appealing mix of pop
and rock music with an electronic spine.
Because it will make you sway, nod your
head and try to suppress a smile as the
summer sun sinks slowly.
Man of Steel
Warner Bros Pictures
We all loved how director Christopher Nolan put a more gritty and darker spin to
the Batman franchise, so we can’t wait to see what he’ll do as producer of the new
Superman movie,
Man of Steel
,
directed by Zack Snyder. The film stars super heart-
throb Henry Cavill (whose credits include
Immortals
)
as the man from Krypton and his
earthly alter-ego Clark Kent, and Amy Adams (
The Trouble with the Curve
)
as Lois Lane.
Coming to Asia in June, early buzz hints at plenty of high-flying action and promises a
soaring blockbuster.

MOVIE
Wild
by Cheryl Strayed
This memoir follows a woman
who, grief-ridden from the death
of her mother and the subsequent
breakdown of her own marriage,
hiked 1,100 miles of the Pacific
Crest Trail on her own.
Wild
spent
several weeks on
The New York
Times
bestseller list, proof enough
of its wide appeal. Readers with
a taste for adventure — woman
versus the forces of nature, and her
own thoughts — will find Strayed’s
wild” solo trek across the US
West Coast (through the Mojave
Desert and into Washington State)
a joy to read. The book already has
at least one big-name fan: reports
claim novelist and screenwriter
Nick Hornby is adapting the
memoir for a movie version
starring Reese Witherspoon.
