PLAY
Hop on the tram
at Hong Kong Island to get to The Peak.
Have your meal at The Peak Lookout
(
www.peaklookout.com.hk
), then stroll
along the nature walks around the area.
Mount Austin Road offers a great hiking
trail. Stop by the Mount Austin Playground
— the little ones will love you for it. A trip
to Hong Kong won’t be complete without
getting the kids to eat lots of dim sum;
so head over to Lok Cha teahouse (
www.
lockcha.com
) in Hong Kong Park for
Chinese afternoon tea with yummy dim
sum bites. City Hall is another Hong Kong
institution famous for their dim sum. “But
arrive before 11am or late lunch to beat the
crowds, as they still have the traditional
cart service,” says Hibbard.
Cebu Pacific flies to Hong Kong from Cebu,
Clark, Iloilo, Kalibo

DAY

DISCOVER
Visit Lantau Island for the day — it’s a 30-minute
ferry ride from Central. On the north-eastern coast is Discovery Bay,
a sprawl of properties that’s home to family-friendly activities. You can dine at one of the 19
seaside restaurants or trek the historic Hong Kong Olympic Trail, which passes stunning views
and links the hamlets of Pak Mong village and Mui Wo. Not far off from Discovery Bay is Hong
Kong Disneyland. The park’s newest attraction, Toy Story Land, is sure to thrill the kids.
Board a taxi or take the MTR to get to Stanley, an old fishing village that’s now known for
Stanley Market, shops and beaches, and the Hong Kong Maritime Museum. At Stanley Plaza
(
www.stanleyplaza.com.hk
), you can have brunch at Classified, a European-style casual
dining place, while the kids frolic at the playground. Hit Stanley Main Beach for swimming and
windsurfing, and bring the entire family on a hiking trip from Stanley to Parkview. Try Shek-O
beach or Big Wave Bay later in the day, so the older kids can surf.

EXPLORE
First, board the Star Ferry from Central to
Kowloon, and admire the amazing views of the Hong Kong skyline.
Then take the children to the Hong Kong Science Museum (
2 Science Museum Rd., Tsim Sha
Tsui East, Kowloon
), where over 500 fun exhibits await. They’re sure to marvel at the 22m-tall
twin-tower Energy Machine that, when activated, sets off awesome audio-visual effects. Want
to go shopping? Head to the Harbour City Mall. Hungry? Head to BLT Burger for child-friendly
treats and Crystal Jade for Chinese meals, both at Harbour City. You can also eat and enjoy
the views at Al Molo or BLT Steak; they’re a bit more fine-dining, but kids are totally welcome.
Another option is to hire a cab and go to Sai Kung fish market for a sumptuous seafood feast.
