WHAT’S A
birthday party without hotdogs?
Whether grilled or pan-fried, these meaty
treats are a swell staple for every child’s
special celebration. And thanks to the new
Virginia Cocktail Hotdogs (available in
generous 1kg packs), preparing snacks hasn’t
been this easy... or tasty. If you’re stumped
for ideas, just keep in mind that little tricks —
a marshmallow here, a pineapple slice there,
a sprinkling of cheese — can transform your
hotdogs into hot party food your kids and
their famished friends will love.
Spiral-cut hotdogs
Slice the sides of a Virginia Cocktail Hotdog,
then pan-fry or grill with a little oil. The cuts
will give the hotdogs a festive look! Serve
skewered on medium-length barbecue sticks.
Luau-style snack
Mahalo! For a Hawaiian-flavored snack,
alternate a slice of fresh (or canned)
pineapple with cocktail hotdogs on a
barbecue stick. The kids will love the mix
of sweet and salty flavors.
Hello, mallows!
Pierce a toothpick with a marshmallow and
a cooked hotdog. Arrange several on a plate
— the perfect finger food!
Cheese, please
Slice up small hotdog buns, then insert each
one with a Virginia Cocktail Hotdog. Sprinkle
with grated cheddar cheese and serve.
Ketchup is optional!
Hotdog spaghetti
Slice the cocktail hotdogs, pan-fry, then add
tomato sauce. Spoon over plates of cooked
spaghetti noodles. Don’t forget to have lots of
Parmesan cheese on hand!
Got a kiddie party coming up? Here are delicious and
creative ways to serve hotdogs to your hungry guests!
Fun, festive party food
IF YOU
often find yourself feeling nostalgic for
the green, open spaces you used to run around
in as a child, and wishing your kids can enjoy
the same freewheeling experiences that you’ve
had, consider what a number of young families
have been opting to do in recent years: moving
out of the bustling metropolis and setting up
homes in less-congested and more affordable
spaces like Santa Rosa in Laguna. It helps
that many property developers are building
around this insight — that parents will do
pretty much anything to give their kids a happy
childhood — and taking care to keep the
idea of country living intact despite a growing
sprawl of added amenities and facilities.
“Living well starts with a good home that gives
you enough space and fantastic views,” says
Alan R. Cruz, president of NorthPine Land,
Inc, (
www.northpineland.com)
, a real estate
developer whose portfolio includes a growing
list of out-of-city developments, such as the
Victorian-inspired South Hampton in Santa
Rosa. This residential community offers easy
access to malls and Brent International School.
And the best part? It’s just a stone’s throw from
Enchanted Kingdom so you can take your kids
there anytime.
