It seemed like a tall order, but super stylist Donna Cuna-Pita was
ready to rise to the challenge of putting together fun, fashion-foward
yet wearable Filipiniana looks. Narrowing down an abundance of
trendy, past-inspired pieces to just a few that we could include in
the feature is no small feat, given that many designers are taking
the patriotic road and mining our own heritage for a distinctly Pinoy
look. With a caravan of clothes and crew, we headed down to Taal,
a lakeside town in Batangas that has managed to preserve many of
its grand homes, a number of which are more than a century old.
Despite the threat of twin typhoons casting a heavy
gloom in the sky, we managed to capture just the
right flavor we were looking for: a blend of old
and new styles, fine craftsmanship with quirky
touches, and an
overall look that says
Filipiniana is fun.
