the evening, all of the teams had
dinner together at Plaza Divisoria.
Unfortunately, the
accommodations we found
that was within our budget
was already fully booked. So
we went straight to Malasag
Eco-tourism Village for the next
challenge. This turned out to be
a good decision, because aside
from saving money, we had
a blast camping at the Eco-
park. We met six tribes from
northern Mindanao, who
let us try out some of their
indigenous instruments.
Day 3
With a whole day to explore Samal
Island and Davao City, we checked
out Maxima and its trampoline, canopy
walk and water slides, then headed to
Monfort Bat Sanctuary, which holds the
Guinness World Record for most bats in
a cave. We were blown away!
In Davao City, we gorged on roasted
pig at Naty’s Lechon,
marang
and
durian. We walked around and found
the People’s Park, the Ateneo de Davao
University and Jack’s Ridge, which
overlooks the city.
We flew to Cagayan de Oro in the
late afternoon, the most fun stop in
our itinerary. And since we arrived in
