Our guest mentor’s shooting style is
characterized by his hyper-awareness
to his surroundings, and an excellent
knack for capturing the decisive
moment. Layering a composition
adds different meanings to a single
picture — in this case, Muslim coeds

Towers skyline. Joanne, on the other
hand, was busy capturing everyday
life on her lens. The most memorable
images, however, came from the newly
minted PhotoTrekkers. Norman used
his people skills to get intimate shots
of strangers, while Cathy tirelessly
explored each neighborhoods’ nooks
and crannies. Her resulting photographs
earned her a special PhotoTreks prize: a
gift voucher for an overnight stay at the
Radisson Blu Hotel Cebu.
We ended our program at an Indian
restaurant, in the shadow of the
massive Batu Caves. Amid laughter and
cheers, we savored the last few hours
of this weekend trip. The days were fun,
and the photo-ops were priceless. But
to shoot this country and learn from
such a talented bunch of photographers
that’s what made this PhotoTrek a
truly memorable one.
