CHILLIN’ IN BANDUNG
"
I sang at the Kampoeng Jazz festival in Bandung, Indonesia last year. It was the first time
I performed outside the Philippines. Though it rained, people still waited and sang along
throughout my show. That’s what I remember the most: the warmth of the Indonesians, and
how they made me feel so special. One other thing I won’t forget is Bandung’s cool weather: the
feel of the breeze as I sat in the garden outside my room at the Sheraton — a beautiful hotel."
GAINING ATTENTION ACROSS ASIA
for her
acoustic versions of various hits and original
tracks, Sabrina (originally Roli Alexandra Ngo
Orial) has been receiving invitations to perform
from all around the region. “Being a singer
lets me get out of my comfort zone and face
unfamiliar situations with dignity and grace,”
says the 22-year-old from Muntinlupa, whose
best-selling albums include
Acoustic Love Notes
and the
I Love Acoustic
series. “I never imagined
I’d actually meet people of different cultures. It
taught me about respect and to discover new
friends, new values and a new life.”
She also found her purpose: “As time went
on, I grew to enjoy making people happy the
most. It melts my heart whenever I see or read
that my music has made someone’s mood
better.” Based on her trips and experiences, it
looks like she achieved just that.

CRISPY STREET CUISINE
"
In March 2011, I performed alongside
South Korean star Seven at an intimate
event for some producers and an audience
in Siam Paragon, Bangkok. After the
show, photo-op and press conference, we
checked out the night market. I saw all
these fried insects and totally freaked out
when a member of my entourage had so
much fun eating fried cockroaches."
