NEW BREED
by Jay Park
After a one-year hiatus from singing, K-pop
star Jay Park returns with a bang. His new
record — a collaboration with American
producer Rob Knox, rap group Dynamic
Duo and other top artists — reveals a fresh
new sound for the singer/songwriter (he
penned 80 percent of the songs). Leading
the 15-track selection is
Know Your Name,
an addictive blend of hip-hop, pop and Euro
dance. Park is in good company: Knox has
worked with Justin Timberlake, Rihanna,
Chris Brown and Britney Spears. Watch out
for him as he tours Manila this month at
Megaworld Lifestyle Malls.

SLOW ROCK VOL.

by Hijo
The band — made up of Bamboo alums
Nathan Azarcon, Ira Cruz and Vic Mercado,
and erstwhile Radioactive Sago Project
members Junji Lerma on guitars and
Wowee Posadas — has launched a new
EP and tagged it “Kung-Fu Rock”. Says
Nathan, “We wanted a funny title for it.
It’s so dark as it is.” The album contains
four tracks that resonate with universal
themes:
Tamalee
is about insatiable greed;
Di Mo Na Kaya
mourns separation and
loss;
Torquemada
is about pain and torture;
while
Dahil Sa Iyo
speaks about love.
