AS YOU
book your flight with Cebu Pacific
(CEB), don’t forget to make a donation to “Bright
Skies for Every Juan” – “the first airline climate
adaptation initiative of its kind in Asia,” says
CEB President and CEO Lance Gokongwei.
The program is a partnership between
Cebu Pacific and WWF Philippines to fight
global warming and promote environmental
awareness and conservation.
“We want to provide an opportunity for
passengers to contribute to a program to fight
global warming. Since airlines have their own
carbon footprint, ‘Bright Skies for Every Juan’
gives CEB the chance to do something
concrete for the environment,” adds Gokongwei.
“Through ‘Bright Skies’, CEB passengers
have donated over PHP20.2 million, in turn
supporting community-based programs in
Sablayan, Mindoro and Cagayancillo, Palawan.
This allows locals to patrol and maintain reefs,
apprehend violators and file cases. With our
Great Reefs campaign, the biggest coral reefs in
the country will ultimately benefit from stronger
conservation and rehabilitation efforts.”
How does it work? The CEB website
estimates carbon emissions based on the
distance of the flight, and guests can choose
to donate an amount based on that estimate
to help “offset” their emissions. Visit

Responsible travel

YOU CAN
start by partnerning with 2012 Team
Philippines for the Homeless World Cup in
Mexico City from October 4 to 12, together with
Cebu Pacific. The airlines has been a proud
partner of the foundation since 2010.
The Homeless World Cup seeks to change
the lives of the homeless and less fortunate
through football, according to co-founders Mel
Young from Scotland and Harald Schmied from
Austria. The first tournament was held in 2003
and has been going strong ever since, supporting
73 international partner organizations including
Urban Opportunities for Change Foundation in
the Philippines.
Team Philippines first joined in 2008 and
finished 24th last year, boosting the country’s
ranking to 26th out of 73 countries. Because of
the experience, participants from the delegation
(they've sent 31 Filipinos so far) have become
more confident in pursuing their dreams,
be it continuing their education or gaining
employment. So make a difference now: log on
