airport gate. I was happy because I was
going back home, and sad because I
would leave the City of Smiles. So to
somehow feel better, I bought some
piaya, napoleones and barquillos
at
Bong-Bong’s Pasalubong just inside the
airport compound (PHP500). I wanted
to bring the sweetness of Bacolod back
home... and maybe munch on some
piaya
on board.

Day 3
I woke up early and prepared my stuff,
as I wanted to return to Bacolod City as
early as possible (PHP50). I grabbed
some bread (PHP25) at the store and
hurried outside, where buses to the city
were parked. I asked the conductor if I
can “topload” (where you go to the roof
of the bus to enjoy the scenery better)
and he said okay. I don’t recommend it
if you are afraid of heights. By 8.30am
I was already in downtown Bacolod.
That day I went shopping and food-
tripping. I entered ANP Showroom at
Lacson St. to buy some
pasalubong
for
friends (PHP250). I was kinda hungry
by 10am, so I went to Calea (which
I think is the best cake house in the
Philippines) and ordered the blueberry
cheesecake (PHP90). Dessert came
first, but I didn’t want to leave Bacolod
City without eating food with my bare
hands. So I took off to Manokan Country
(PHP8 by tricycle) near SM Bacolod
and ordered chicken
inasal
and two
cups of rice (PHP80). I was smiling
while eating this Bacolod specialty!
After that food trip I was ready to
go home. I went to Lopues East by
jeepney (PHP8) to wait for the public
utility vans going to the airport to save
on transportation (PHP100). I had
mixed emotions when I arrived at the
