The Second Kota Kinabalu Food Festival
March 3–18
Sabah may be known for its beaches, rainforests and
Mount Kinabalu, but it’s also home to fantastic food. So
get your appetites ready for a second serving of the annual
Kota Kinabalu Food Festival (KKFF). This unique foodie fest
is a full-scale culinary celebration held over 16 days across all
of the event’s participating outlets. A number of fringe events,
bookended by an opening bazaar and a closing cocktail, will serve
as diversions in between all the eating.

the Rising Sun with a four-city Japan tour
in March. The pure rock ‘n’ roll sound of
Wasting Light
— their latest album that was
recorded in Dave Grohl’s garage completely
analog, with no help from computers —
has earned the five-man band six Grammy
nominations, including “Album of the Year”
and “Best Rock Song” for
Walk.

Swan Lake

The Singapore Dance Theatre opens the
season with
Swan Lake,
one of the greatest
classical ballets of all time. Through
evocative music and skillful dance,
Swan
Lake
tells the tale of Odette, the tragic
princess captured by the evil sorcerer, Von
Rothbart, and turned into a swan. Under
the curse, she can only reveal her true
human form at night; and only the promise
of true love from a man who is pure of
heart and deed can rescue her. Artistic
Director Janek Schergen recommends
this for ballet novices for “its spectacle,
great music and clear plot.”
