for PHP10 per passenger. Pay PHP60 to rent a
private tricycle.

TOUCHDOWN
You will find tricycles at the
designated parking area after you come out of
the airport terminal building. These vehicles are
also typically the sole means of transport in and
around the city.

Calbayog is an ideal place to get a sense
of history, art and architectural appreciation. Visit
Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral, considered to be
the biggest church in Samar, then head off to
Handuman Museo de Calbayog for art.
BY NIGHT
Treat yourself and your friends to a
sumptuous dinner at Kamayan Restaurant, which
serves the best seafood dishes in town. Then
spend the evening at S.O. Cafe’s Friday Night
Cocktails or at Ciriaco Hotel’s Café Elsa.

TOUCHDOWN
There are taxis to help you get
around the city, as well as jeepneys and pedicabs
(which are powered by a bicycle). Once in town,
you can also rent a motorbike, which is a really
fun way to get to where you need to go.
BY DAY
Rent a scooter for PHP30 an hour and
drive around town. Head to Valencia to visit
Casaroro Falls and then to Sibulan for the Twin
Lakes. End the day lounging in the acacia-dotted
Silliman University campus by the sea.
BY NIGHT
Begin with a foot massage in Rizal
Boulevard, then munch on some tempura. Nurse
a bottle of cheap ice-cold San Miguel Beer at Blue
Monkey Grill during happy hour. Or get into the
rhythm at Hayahay Bar and Treehouse.
SLEEP
Nothing beats the ocean view rooms at
La Residencia Al Mar along Rizal Boulevard. It’s
a charming little hotel with the best view of the
Dumaguete sunrise.

means “sharp edge” because of the
way the town juts out of Northern
Samar’s edge.
