land-based travel, either. “We have
a fantastic five-day package that
includes riding down to Puerto Galera,
checking out some caves, then taking
a speedboat to dive Apo Reef. You
get to ride on the road and off, see
historical sites and the marine life that
makes Apo Reef one of the best diving
sites in the world,” explains Philippe.
Giving back
Adding another dimension is
Par Motorrad’s corporate social
responsibility mission. The same
traits that make a motorcycle an ideal
platform for touring and perfect for
getting to hard-to-reach areas, can
also give back to the communities
and touch the lives of the locals. For
instance, last year, the group went on
the Ride for Light 2011 tour, a social
and ecological mission organized
by the Solar Energy Foundation
of the Philippines (

that seeks to
provide solar-powered lights to rural
communities still living without
electricity. Par Motorrad’s easy riders
also have two other advocacies: the
Safe Riders program, which provides
proper motorcycle riding and safety
training; and the Eco-Friendly Riders
program, an initiative that converts
agricultural waste into a soil enhancer,
as a way for Par Motorrad to offset
its carbon emmissions while at the
same time helping local farmers. Par
Motorrad will be incorporating these
CSR programs with a select number
of tours — touching not just the lives
of those in need, but of their clients
as well. Interacting with the locals
and doing what you can to help them
is part and parcel with any of these
packages.
Philippe sums it up, “When you
see their smiles, that’s something
that stays with you forever.” And it all
started with a motorcycle.
No need to
fear winding
roads!
